Basset Hound

I am a volunteer at the shelter and also a volunteer team leader for MCAS marketing. I have helped in many ways: foster, adopter, coordinator for off-site adoptions, assist with rescues, dog walker, computer input, lost dog walk-thru, help to adopt to families. I do it because I don't think we should be killing adoptable animals and I know I can make a difference.

Mission:The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (TLCASC) ensures public safety and the welfare of animals by enforcing animal control regulations and by providing a secure, healthy environment for animals in its care. Vision: The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center seeks to enhance and enrich the community by providing the best animal-care facility and services in the nation. * Investigates reports of animal cruelty * Enforces animal control regulations * Responds to complaints about dangerous or nuisance animals * Rescues animals in distress * Provides humane care for over 10,000 animals impounded each year * Provides microchip ID for pets adopted from the center * Helps people find lost pets * Seeks homes for stray animals * Humanely euthanizes animals that cannot be adopted * Coordinates foster homes as resources allow * Provides humane euthanasia, at an owner’s request, for terminally ill pets * Educates the public about responsible pet ownership

Breed specific rescue. Pure bred basset hound rescue (mixes rarely taken, but we will crosspost for all breed rescues). We take in owner-surrender hounds and pull from shelters all over northern CA. Our intention is that no basset will ever die in a shelter or from lack of care in the hands of their guardian.

Beagles & Buddies rescues purebred and mixed Beagles, as well as other hounds and small dogs, from public shelters, dog owners and other rescues. Each dog receives a medical exam and any necessary medical and other treatment. All vaccinations are updated based on the history available for the dog. Beagles & Buddies spays or neuters all dogs to assist in the fight against pet overpopulation. We observe their temperament and personality and match them up with other kennel buddies they can play with. Beagles & Buddies finds safe, new homes for almost all of its dogs. In accordance with our no-kill policy, our rescue facility keeps any dog that is not adopted.

Each dog that MM adopts out to a Furever home has the following basic vetting: • Spay or Neuter Surgery • Vaccinations up to date according to age (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella) • De-Worming • Microchip • Heartworm Testing (1 yr & older) we pay for treatment for any HW+ animal after adoption at our own vet Cats: Our adoption fee is $175 for cats and kittens. Each cat that MM adopts out to a Furever home has the following basic vetting: • Spay or Neuter Surgery • Vaccinations up to date according to age (Rabies, FVRCP) • De-Worming • Combo-Tested (FeLV/FIV) The first step in the adoption process is to submit an application through our website, www.mostlymutts.org. The Menifee County Animal Shelter is a not for profit animal shelter staffed primarily by volunteers. We are a very dedicated and result oriented group that has managed to re-home thousands of dogs and cats from Menifee and surrounding counties.

The Humane Society of Elmore County is located in Wetumpka, Alabama (Elmore County) just northeast of Montgomery in south-central Alabama. We are a non-profit, 501(c)3, organization and have been operational for almost twenty years at the same location. Our shelter is an Open Admission shelter taking in over 5,000 domestic animals annually from Elmore County citizens and from the various Animal Control Officers (ACO) from throughout Elmore County. We work every day to provide a safe and humane environment for the 250-300 animals in our care and to also find loving and lifetime homes for as many of them as possible. We strive to educate the public on issues involving pets and animal welfare and welcome opportunities to address groups of all ages and interests. Our operational expenses are met through donations from private individuals, groups and businesses, our own fund-raising activities, grants, adoption fees and the contracts we have with cities and the county to accept animals from their ACO's. We gratefully accept financial donations, donations of pet food and supplies at the shelter, and items for our Tails End Thrift Store located adjacent to the shelter. All donations to our shelter are tax deductible and we will happily provide a receipt for any donation as requested.
