Stone County Humane Society Inc.

Arkansas

We are a small group of people who originally formed the 501(C)3 in 1999. We are retired to this area from other places and have professional backgrounds. Our President is a retired Air Force Colonel who was a nurse. She and others saw a real need in this rural community for someone to help educate the people on how to better care for animals and the need to spay and neuter and decided to build a shelter and start housing the unwanted animals of Stone County. I have been actively involved since 2008. Our shelter dream was finally a reality when we were given a wonderful gift from a local person who died and left an estate trust to us that will be disbursed over a 12 year period. We were able to secure a bank loan to build the shelter based on the annual disbursements from this estate trust and it was completed in August. We believe that all animals should be properly cared for and loved and not tied up in a yard or left out in weather with not shelter or used for breeding. We have conducted several small size rescues in the area over the years with the help of the local authorities and helped stop one hoarder who had 200 dogs at one time and could not care for them. The ASPCA was called in to help with this issue. We can only house about 20 t o 25 dogs and the same number of cats at any one time. We do not have a viable foster program to help take in more unwanted animals. We work from a wait list and take animals that are in danger sooner than ones that are being cared for by someone. Last year in 2016 we adopted out 128 dogs and transported 37 dogs to another rescue in Colorado that we work with that takes our dogs or puppies that we do not have room to keep. This shelter has a facility as well as a large foster program to house the dogs till they are adopted out by them. We took in a total of 170 dogs and returned 38 to owners who had lost dogs. We adopted out 59 cats, had 68 cats surrendered and spayed and neutered 249 animals.

Whitey's Only Wish Rescue Inc

Connecticut
06238
WOW.Rescue@yahoo.com
Whitey's Only Wish is a 501(c)(3) Rescue. In honor of Whitey, my precious baby Chow Chow, I keep my promise to her to help puppies in need. For decades we would bring supplies, food and treats to the shelters and rescues in our area together. In 2011, Whitey was rushed to the ER where the Vet said I needed to prepare as she would not be coming home. I sat by her side in the hospital for three days, promising her if she got better we would help puppies in need. Against all odds she did recover. So in an attempt to keep my promise, in the last 5+ years, I worked with various rescues and foundations to help those animals that needed help most. I decided in August 2016 to start Whitey's Only Wish Rescue, and it was recognized as a 501(c)(3) in that same month! Whitey is now 14 years old and since her recovery has been a surrogate Mom to more than 200 puppies. Her assistant, Kodie, a 12 year old shepherd/Rottie, helps with our mission as well.

Chi Town Rescue

We are a Non Profit 501C 3 Rescue saving dogs from the Euthanasia list! "Chi Town" is short for "Chihuahua Town," which is our nick-name. Chi Town Rescue saves small dogs who require a little extra TLC. Many of these dogs are Chihuahuas or Chi mixes, hence our name! These dogs may not be doing well for a variety of reasons- fear, fear aggression, anxiety, or a medical needs to name a few. Dogs that have no other outlet make up most of our residents. After our dogs are medically cleared and/or their behaviors have improved and we’ve learned how to manage the behaviors, we make them available for adoption. Our dogs leave Chi Town Rescue as well adjusted as possible and fully vetted.

Camp Chaos Puppy Rescue

PO Box 23
Missouri
63051
campchaospuppyrescue@outlook.com(314) 775-7223
Camp Chaos Puppy Rescue is a small foster based puppy rescue that saves animals from rural and local high kill shelters. We specialize in the care and rescue of pregnant mothers and litters of puppies. We are not equipt to take in or care for adult dogs, especially large breeds, other than the pregnant females and mothers of the puppies in our care. On rare occasion our organization will take in other puppies and dogs in need based on foster home availability. Our goal is to place homeless pets in the best home possible and to see to it that they are spayed/neutered to eliminate their ability to add to the over population of unwanted and homeless pets. Our adoption fee is $280, which helps cover the cost of their spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, fecal testing, veterinary health exam, heartworm testing and age appropriate vaccinations (distemper/parvo combo, bordetella, rabies).

Swamp Haven Rescue, Inc.

Saint Augustine
Florida

adopthappiness@swamphaven.org(904) 392-3416
We are Swamp Haven and this is our story. Swamp Haven is an animal rescue organization that takes down-on-their-luck dogs and nurtures them back to a healthy mental and physical state, so they can find their forever home. Our goal is simple. We save innocent dogs that have been overlooked by society and provide short-term care including vetting (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and heartworm and flea prevention) and training to learn how to walk politely on a leash, play in a pack and live calmly and lovingly in their new home. It all started a few years back when we made the move from the Pacific Northwest to North Florida. We were surprised to learn how many dogs lose their lives in shelters each month around this area and felt compelled to do something. In the beginning of 2015, we founded Swamp Haven, a 501c3 nonprofit dog rescue organization that survives entirely on donations. Feel free to noodle around our site and learn more about our organization including ways to donate, how you can foster a dog and our adoption process.
