Polk County Humane Society ensures a lifetime of safety, love and companionship for lost, abandoned and unwanted pets. We provide shelter and care in a safe, no-kill environment for pets awaiting a second chance. We adopt these pets to responsible, loving, and committed homes. Polk County Humane Society works to reduce the overpopulation, loss, abandonment and surrender of pets by promoting the spay and neuter of all pets, and educating the community on responsible and successful pet ownership.

Our president started as the Volunteer Rescue Coordinator at the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter, Weatherford, Tx. We recently started Weatherford Wags, a 501c3 non profit rescue. We are a foster-home based rescue, focused on saving urgent dogs at local shelters. We also attempt to help strays and unwanted dogs in order to keep them out of shelters and to get them into loving homes. We do not have a facility. To be effective in saving a dog's life, we depend on the community to step up and offer their homes to temporarily foster a dog until it's adopted or goes on transport to be adopted elsewhere. So many dogs that are at risk at the shelters are great dogs, that just need a chance to prove it, and not be euthanized for space at the shelter. We find foster homes for the dogs, provide needed medical attention, help with food, and then market the dogs. We then screen and approve potential adopters, and provide help with integrating a new dog into their home. We do it for the love of dogs, knowing that just because a dog happens to be in the shelter, it is not a bad dog.

My name is Lynne Runge, I’m the founder/director at Saving Grace. Saving Grace is a (501c3) nonprofit foster-based animal rescue focusing on saving lives of animals in overcrowded kill shelters. To provide loving homes & will be accepting owner surrenders. We do not have breed discrimination when it comes to saving. Our priority will be pregnant/nursing moms, orphan puppies & seniors. CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit founded in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier whose investigative articles garnered international awards and prompted changes in animal welfare laws. She created the Organization in response to North Carolina’s euthanasia rate which is among the highest in the country and to many of its shelters’ methods of euthanasia that are so inhumane they are outlawed in most other states. ​ We rescue dogs from kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, and from chains. We provide full medical care, foster homes, and transport by land and air through our partnership with PilotsNPaws to fully screened and qualified adopters all along the East Coast. ​ What distinguishes us from other rescues is our focus on the relationship between the rescued dog and the new family. By understanding your lifestyle and expectations, as well as the personalities of our rescue dogs, we can make a compatible match for a lifelong bond. We are in it for the life of the dog. At any point after adoption, if the adopter's situation changes for whatever reason, we will always accept the dog back into the rescue.

Hearts United for Animals is a Smithsonian Award winning, state-of-the-art no-kill shelter and sanctuary dedicated to relieving the suffering of domestic animals. HUA has rescued over 12,000 dogs from puppy mills, provided low cost spay/neuter services for over 14,000 patients, and offers temporary housing for animals of families fleeing domestic violence. We have placed thousands of cats and dogs in wonderful new homes across the country through our JetSet Dogs program. The Proud Pets Program provides free veterinary care for the beloved pets of previously homeless veterans. We are a dog rescue. Nancy Jimeno founded the rescue and was originally saving mostly pitbulls. Overtime we have grown and we save all kinds of breeds from all over! We get dogs as strays, owner surrenders, abandonment cases, hoarding cases, the euthanasia list at shelters across Southern California and so much more! We strive to help animals in need while also teaching our community how to be better
