Adopt-a-Kitty is an all species/breed caregiver to lost, homeless, and unwanted pets that are in need, locally and in nearby surrounding areas, concentrating mainly on cats and kittens. We accept “special needs” pets as well, when in need. In the last 5 years, we have placed hundreds of animals, a good portion pulled from high kill shelters. Our mission in life is to love, care for, and PLACE animals who haven't been given a chance. All pets are tested, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, etc. prior to adoption. We provide a safe place for our rescued pets to stay until a forever family can be found. We are a no kill shelter.

Rockwall Animal Adoption Center

Legacy Humane Society was established in 2008 as a dog rescue organization run by volunteers and fosters. We take in dogs from EU lists and Owner Surrenders. We have them fully vetted and then we find them homes. We do home check and vet checks on all adopters. The city of Rockwall contracted with LHS in 2012 to take over managing their animals/adoptions. They will maintain animal control and we run their vetting and adoptions. We will screen apps completed at the shelter but we will not be able to due home checks based on staffing constraints. We have 14 employees and funding is done through the city and donations. In Jan 2017 the name of the facility was changed to Rockwall Adoption Center to more clearly divide both sister organizations purpose and services.

We work with this community, and with local city and county shelters rescuing cats and dogs, holding adoptions, and providing educational materials on animal care. We are a non-profit, charitable organization. We assist dogs and cats, and their owners in this community. Perhaps your life takes an abrupt turn. You are forced to move and must find a home for your faithful dog. Friends and family have not been successful in helping you; Your dog has been neutered and shots are current. You could contact a H.A.L.O. representative through our email: contacthalo@yahoo.com , or by calling H.A.L.O. voicemail at 925-473-4642. Next, we would contact you and arrange for you to bring your dog to to us to evaluate to see if he is a good fit for our adoption program. If he is, we may be able to fit him in to a foster home. If no foster home is available we may assist you in finding a home by listing him on our site and helping you show him. We will work with you in finding a new safe and loving home for your dog. This example demonstrates just one type of dilemma faced by families. We seek solutions to a variety of problems is this community. Best Friend Pet Adoption

P.O. Box 5305
North Carolina

adoption@bfpa.org
Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in central North Carolina. BFPA has no building, office, or shelter. We are an all-foster network committed to helping dogs and cats in need of homes. Individual donations are our most important source of income as we receive no public funding. Our purpose is to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Wake County, NC and the surrounding counties. Our mission is to educate this disposable society in which we live that every life should be valued and cherished and is directly linked to human responsibility and commitment. Almost all the animals we rescue require immediate medical attention. BFPA never turns away or euthanizes an animal because of the expense involved in returning them to good health. All our rescued animals are evaluated for temperament, examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, microchipped (if possible) and sterilized, if age appropriate. Cats and dogs receive monthly flea/tick preventative and dogs also receive monthly heartworm preventative. The most important ingredients we provide to these animals are loving care and a safe haven -- something most of them have never experienced. These cats and dogs live in volunteer foster homes until we find them a loving permanent home, however long it takes. We match these precious beings to a single, couple or family who understand cats and dogs should be full participating members of the family. Our hope is that these animals never have to experience being unloved again. Since our beginning, BFPA has rescued and placed over 2,500 cats and dogs into their forever homes. BFPA was created in 1998 by two Raleigh-area women who had volunteered with other established rescues in the Triangle. Their dedication to help homeless dogs and cats has led to an organization that has grown to over 225 volunteers strong. BFPA received 501(c)(3) status in 1999.

King Street Cats

25 Dove Street
Virginia

contact@kingstreetcats.org(703) 231-7199
King Street Cats is proud to be the only cat-exclusive, no-kill rescue facility in Alexandria, Va. We are 100% volunteer-run and rely solely on private donations. Prior to 2003 we were known as The Albert Foundation. King Street Cats houses 30 cats on average and because we are free-roaming, you can come and hang out on the weekends with the "cat-friendliest cats" in town! Our mission is to provide loving homes for the cats and kittens in our care, and to educate and assist the community in regard to cat welfare. We accomplish this through outreach to the local community by providing information on proper cat care, behavioral problems and other issues involving cats. If you call or email us, we will respond! We also assist local residents in locating and retrieving lost cats and assist individuals through the cat adoption process. We promote spaying and neutering, and all our cats and kittens are sterilized and fully up-to-date on shots prior to adoption. We also provide post-adoption support for adopters and anyone else that needs cat care advice. Because we only work in the area of cat welfare…we know cats! We believe that every cat, regardless of age or personality, deserves to have a forever home and our cats stay with us until that home is found.

Evergreen Animal Protective League

PO BOX 2517
Colorado
80437
eaplevergreen@eapl.com(303) 674-6442
The Evergreen Animal Protective League was organized in April, 1981, to aid lost, abandoned and suffering animals through rescue, shelter and education. The League has provided a better life for over 9,300 cats, dogs and other pets. Some facts. We are totally volunteer. The majority of our members work during the day and do their volunteer work in the evenings and on weekends. There are NO paid employees. We are not supported by taxes. All funding comes from donations from the public, and from fund raising activities. We do not make money from adoption fees. Adoption fees do not even cover the cost of advertising the pet, let alone vet care, etc. Because we must raise our own funds to operate, we depend upon the Evergreen community for contributions and for volunteer assistance. We are a non-profit organization recognized for tax exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service. Our tax exempt number is 74-2204391. If you are contemplating donating to us you may use this number. We rescue and shelter (if space is available) abandoned pets. We adopt pets not claimed by anyone to new homes. We reunite lost pets with their owners through lost and found records. We assist financially with neutering of pets, and we educate pet owners about neutering whenever possible. We educate adults wherever possible about proper care of pets. We provide educational programs in the elementary schools. We provide pet registration tags for pets. We conduct fund raising activities to finance our programs. We are a good source for information on pet behavior problems, but do not consider ourselves a replacement for a veterinarian. We help animals in any way that we possibly can.
