We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads

We are a group of people pulling the animals from the pts list from high kill local shelters. We also pull the injured and very sick animals and get them the proper Vet care and then nurse them back to health before we adopt them out. This is very important to us and we pride ourselves on saving those animals in need and finding the the perfect "forever" homes for them. We are foster home based at this time, but are in the market to purchase and start a sanctuary and rehab facility. We will still have the foster homes once this happens. We are also in the process of filing for our 501c3 status.

Our Mission Statement: The Humane Society of Sullivan County, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to the education of the public in the humane treatment of all animals, the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the importance of animal control through the promotion of spaying and neutering. We have just built a new building costing over $200,000. Residents of Sullivan County have been very enthused to help get a shelter going.

Texas Husky Rescue is an animal rescue group focused on saving Siberian Huskies in the Texas Region. Most of our dogs come from shelters all over the state, they receive all their vaccinations, a heartworm test, a microchip, and they are spayed or neutered before going to their new home.

Marshmallow Animal Shelter is a “low kill” shelter. This is very important to all of us and we believe in it with all of our hearts. The animals that are brought to us as “strays” are held for five (5) business days. After that hold period is up, we have the right to have that animal euthanized. We wanted to give animals a second chance at finding new homes so we chose to have a policy where we only euthanize if there are extenuating circumstances. We do our very best to not give up on any animal brought to our doorstep! Because we are committed to caring for these animals until we can find them appropriate homes, many are with us for a very lengthy period. On average, we have over 40 cats and 15 dogs to care for while they wait to find new homes and families. We do not give them time limits. But to do this requires support from our public. In addition to finding homes for these pets, Marshmallow Animal Shelter also works closely with local and regional service dog training programs and police departments. We are proud to have had several shelter dogs go on to help people or places in need! The staff and volunteers of Marshmallow Animal Shelter work hard every single day providing for the animals that have no other place to go. They do this because it is in their heart and it feeds their soul. Please help them continue to care for these pets in need and provide a safe haven for them until they find new families and homes. The Texarkana Animal League has been in existence serving the pet population of Texarkana since the 1940’s in various capacities. We have been animal advocates, contracted with both of our twin cities for the running of the daily operations of the shelter, and our latest adventure returns back to our roots as advocates. As of December 2008, our organization no longer held the contract to run the local animal shelter, and with that change in direction, we have been able to approach the animal community in a completely different direction. Although operations have changed our mission has not. The Texarkana Animal League exists to provide protection and care for abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted companion animals. We also want to promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people. We have been able to use our annual fundraiser, the “Tails of Two Cities” Day Planner to start three community-based programs. One helps low income households spay and neuter their pets and another helps current rescuers with medical costs of special needs animals. Finally, we established a foster care program to pull needy animals from the community, as well as the shelter, which will provide the extra medical attention and socialization needed in order for the animal to become adoptable. low income, Spay/Neuter Assistance Program. Along with altering the companion animal, we have included a wellness check, vaccines, and a heartworm test. This program is provided to Bowie, Cass, Little River and Miller county residents for the low cost of $50 for dogs and $35 for cats. TAL covers all expenses for this program. Prices have been negotiated for the different procedures, but the cost remains the same to the public. All of our adoptable animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. These items will take an animal from no or nominal care to complete care and will make them highly adoptable. We have teamed up with Petfinder.com and PetSmart Charities to promote our adoptable animals.

We save dogs from shelters when they are on their last day. We pull from mainly high-kill shelters and those that sell to research. ALL our animals reside in fosters homes until adoption.
