I have been the director for 17 years. We are stricly a foster based organization and often take in dogs with very high medical bills tbat would have no chance without our help. I have a large network of volunteers. Lucky Dog Rescue was awarded "Best of Scottsdale" 8 years in a fow for our work in the community.

" Safe Haven for Animals operates a free roam environment, no-kill shelter located in Scottsdale, Arizona, providing care for approximately 65 cats at any given time, with the population increasing significantly during kitten season. Our primary objective is to place every companion animal in a loving, safe home. The animals received at Safe Haven's shelter which are not adopted will always have food, shelter, veterinary care, love and a safe place to live out their lives. " Safe Haven for Animals was started in late 2004 as a non-profit, no-kill shelter. We’ve taken in sick, elderly, neglected, abused, and abandoned kitties in addition to the lost or those whose lives became collateral damage due to moves, break-ups, new couches, and other human issues. There are no paid staff members with Safe Haven for Animals; the dedicated work is performed solely by volunteers. Funding for our approximately $40,000 annual expenses for rent, utilities, repairs, medical care, food, litter, and other supplies are maintained exclusively by donation of money, time, supplies, independent grants we apply for, garage sale fundraisers (with donated items), and adoption fees ($79-89). The number of animals we can serve is very dependent on our finances. Relief for these expenses come from the very community we serve, and we humbly ask everyone we come in contact with to consider Safe Haven as a cause to get behind. Any monetary assistance we receive goes directly toward our operating expenses and keeping our doors open for as long as we can. Our promise to these living, breathing, miraculous individual souls is for a lifetime.

Paw Placement is a no-kill organization based in Scottsdale, AZ. Our mission is to reduce euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs through rescue, adoption and education about responsible pet guardianship. Founded in 2001 we accept dogs and cats state-wide in AZ from county shelters and are one of the few organizations to help private individuals with placement of their pet, whether the owner is going into assisted living, has been deployed through the military or is a victim of foreclosure.

Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary (FLPS) is one of only two senior animal rescues in Maricopa County, Arizona. Formed in 2012 as a non-profit 501[c][3] organization, the focus of FLPS is to promote the rescue, adoption, and well-being of senior animals. FLPS also provides public education regarding the value of adopting a senior pet. In the Fall of 2013, FLPS will be able serve a public need by offering housing to a limited number of senior pets. This safe haven, will take the burden of temporary care and housing of senior animals off of local shelters. Inevitably, local shelters resort to euthanizing these abandoned, senior animals at an alarming rate. According to a 2012 statistics report, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) euthanizes one animal every eight minutes it is open to the public. Euthanasia for senior residents is the primary option for most local shelters because they tend to focus their efforts on a high adoption model that includes younger “more adoptable” animals. FLPS will work with local shelters and rescues to identify the senior animals in need and provide a streamlined process for interested men, women and families who wish to adopt.

Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue

Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue, Inc. (AZBTR) is an Arizona non-profit corporation dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of unwanted Boston Terriers, education of owners on responsible dog ownership, and education of the public on the Boston Terrier breed. AZBTR began life as the Rescue Committee of the Valley of the Sun Boston Terrier Club, a club founded in 1974 by a group of Boston Terrier lovers and breeders. As responsible breeders they knew that, in addition to improving and protecting the breed, it was also their obligation to help individual Bostons that needed new homes. Over the years, more and more Bostons needed help, and the Rescue Committee's operations grew to the point that it made sense to form a separate Boston Terrier rescue with the exclusive goal of helping dogs that needed new homes. Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue, Inc. was born as a free-standing non-profit corporation in 2006. Today AZBTR takes in adoptable Boston Terriers from many situations. We provide for their medical and behavioral needs, then place them in loving, permanent homes. All of our rescued dogs live with families in foster homes in Arizona. We operate statewide and occasionally take in dogs from nearby states. We do not run a shelter that you can visit. All of the rescue's operations are carried out by volunteers, most of whom have families and full-time jobs. We are very busy! The costs of the care we provide for Bostons adds up. We charge an adoption fee for each Boston, but it rarely covers all of the costs, even for a simple case. We close the gap with fundraising activities throughout the year and donations from Boston Terrier Lovers. AZBTR follows a code of ethics that requires us to operate in a lawful and responsible fashion. For example, we are committed to spay/neuter every dog before placement in a new home. AZBTR is a proud member of the Coalition of All Breed Rescue of Arizona.

My daughter and I opened a little rescue specializing in Australian Cattle dogs and Australian Shepherds. We also do some rescue of seniors and other breeds. We do rescue because we love dogs and want to make a dent in the homeless dog population.
