Smitten With Kittens is an all volunteer, no kill 501(c)3 non-profit cat and kitten rescue and foster network that operates in Tallahassee. We are dedicated to helping as many kittens as possible find permanent, loving homes. Because we are not a shelter, we are limited to the number of felines we can assist. But with the help of the community through fostering or volunteering, we hope to increase that number.

Our Mission To relieve animal suffering To prevent animal cruelty To eliminate overpopulation of animals To promote humane education To enhance the human/animal bond The Leon County Humane Society is Tallahassee's largest no kill, non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to saving Tallahassee's homeless pets by educating our community about responsible pet ownership and reducing pet overpopulation through programs like Spay/Neuter, Rescue Ride, and Friends Fur Life. Because we are a no-kill organization, we are also a “limited intake” shelter. The Leon County Humane Society works closely with other animal welfare agencies in the community and transfers animals in from other shelters that euthanize for space, including the Tallahassee Leon Community Animal Services Center (City Shelter). We do not take animals in from the public. Once an animal is accepted in our foster and adoption program they are not euthanized for space reasons. Unless there are medical or behavioral issues that develop, deeming an animal un-adoptable, a cat or dog will stay in our adoption program until they find their forever home. Tallahassee is an APSCA Partnership Community, and LCHS is thrilled to be one of the organizations included in this innovative program. Over the next 3-5 years, the Partnership organizations and ASPCA will be working together to reduce the homeless pet population in Tallahassee and provide much needed resources for the pets in our area
