The Animal Coalition of Delaware County is an all-volunteer, foster based rescue, 501 (c) (3) organization registered with the Pennsylvania Department of State.
Our mission is to reduce stray and shelter animal populations in the Philadelphia region by finding permanent homes for adoptable dogs, cats, and rabbits. Underlying this mission is a strong commitment to educating the public about the importance of spaying, neutering, and the responsibilities of long-term pet ownership.
We believe in an adoption approach that considers important details for finding the right fit, such as a person's home, interests and lifestyle. We then match those with an animal's social, exercise and training needs.
Unlike “pass/fail” application programs, we strive to match people and animals through education and discovery. We accomplish this through conversation to create an effective, pleasant adoption experience — and most important — to make lasting matches.
Each situation, adopter and animal requires a different approach. And while we reserve the right to refuse an adoption, we always make every effort to work with you to address concerns or find the most appropriate companion animal.
Before falling in love with one of our animals, please make sure that you are:
At least 21 years of age
In possession of a valid photo ID
Allowed to have a cat or dog where you live (proof of home ownership or copy of lease with pet clause allowing pets is required)
Able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide the training, medical treatment and proper care for the animal
Able to provide veterinary references for current and past veterinarians
PLEASE ALLOW 4-5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR YOUR APPLICATION TO BE THOROUGHLY PROCESSED BY ONE OF OUR ADOPTION COUNSELORS
If the animals are still listed on our website they are still available. If an animal has an adoption pending it will be listed as Pending. Once adopted, the animal will no longer be active but will appear under "Successes".
Our Adoption fees are:
$100 for a cat.
$250 for a dog.
$300 for a puppy.
$ 65 for a rabbit
$ 25 for a guinea pig
*Please note that all our animals are spayed or neutered, if old enough, and now microchipping is included for cats & dogs. If an animal is adopted out and is not old enough for us to spay or neuter, we do charge a $50 refundable spaying/neutering deposit, which is in addition to the adoption fee. This deposit will be returned once you provide proof of spaying or neutering which is required under the adoption agreement. Providing a copy of your veterinarian's invoice detail showing the surgery is usually sufficient, or a note from your veterinarian.
We also give a discount for multiple same-day adoptions, i.e. adopting two cats instead of one, or a mother and her kitten.
