Description

Our Mission

Developing highly adoptable dogs through our positive reinforcement rehabilitation training program.

This program is designed to save, rehabilitate, train, and rehome dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, placed on death row, or misunderstood.

We give dogs a second chance to have a happy life!

Our Founder & President

" I was born to be a voice for the voiceless! This is deep rooted in my soul. From an incredibly young age, I have been their voice and continue to be heard"

Our founder and president, Judy Troyer, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She not only trains obedience but also focuses her advanced training on understanding aggression & rehabilitation protocols. She uses positive reinforcement techniques, for our rescues training and rehabilitation. With her knowledge and training style, many dogs have been given a second chance to live a healthy happy life.

Judy is a big advocate for clear communication, pain free and force free training techniques and is the voice for so many misunderstood dogs!

Our Team

We are animal loving volunteers who spend our lives dedicated to our rescues. We work very hard to help with the rescue's training and help them become highly adoptable & happy dogs! We believe every dog deserves a second chance to be understood and to learn how to live appropriately in the human world. We are consistent with our training techniques and have seen amazing transformations in dog behaviors. We go above and beyond for those that can't speak for the themselves.

Joining our team, you will learn many amazing training techniques, understand dog body language and be making a huge difference in the life of a rescue!

Adoption Process

ADOPTION PROCESS

The Adoption Process will begin once the rescue has been spayed or neutered, given age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, heartworm tested, wormed, and flea treated. The rescue will have also received their own individual rehabilitation and obedience training.

* An Adoption Application can be completed on this website. Please read our "Fine Print" page before completing the application. The questions are very extensive which assists us in providing the safest and most appropriate homes for our rescues. All questions must be answered and incomplete applications will NOT be reviewed. After you have submitted the application, a representative will contact you to discuss your application, answer any questions and possibly schedule a Meet n Greet.

Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment! Please do NOT submit an application unless everyone in the home is ready to adopt a pet. All family members must be committed to the care, training and attention your new pet will require. This includes a financial responsibility to provide vetting and routine care.

* Meet n Greets are by appointment only and are scheduled by one of our representatives. All family members, including current pets, are required to come. This is your chance to spend a little time with the rescue and begin to learn about their personality. If the Meet n Greet is a success, a Home Inspection is then set up.

* The Home Inspection is set up by a representative. They will come to your home to make sure you are ready for your new addition. They will look for safety hazards inside the home, check fencing, zip lines and tie outs etc. If changes are needed, they will guide you with advice on how to correct. When your home inspection passes then a Trial Run is set up.

* A Trial Run is designed to help the rescue transition smoothly into your home. A representative will bring the rescue to your home and if it is determined that you have everything ready for your potential new family member, the rescue will stay with you on a trial basis. We require that the first 2-3 days of a Trial Run be strictly dedicated to the rescue. Please do not schedule any other obligations so your focus can be solely on helping him/her settle into your home and begin to learn your routine. We will send their food, a favorite toy, and a familiar article to help make their transition as seamless as possible. A Trial Run normally lasts 2-3 weeks.

* If it is determined during the Trial Run that the rescue is a good fit for your family, a representative will make a follow-up visit and finalize the adoption. At this time, you will sign the Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fee. It is mandatory that, by this visit, you have purchased a safe leash, an approved collar (martingale or buckle style) and a personal identification tag.

Please know that adopting a rescue not only saves the life of that pet,

it also allows us to save a 2nd life by opening another spot in our program.

Requirements & The Fine Print

We work extremely hard with our rescues. We learn their needs and know their behaviors.

We temperament test in a variety of situations. They live in our homes or in the kennel and in certain circumstances we know their backgrounds.

We train them and overcome any issues they may have had coming into rescue. Therefore, we do our best to find our rescued dogs and cats their perfect forever family.

WE ONLY PLACE OUR RESCUES INTO HOMES THAT MEET THEIR NEEDS!

We also remain a lifelong resource for the families that adopt one of our rescues.

We do NOT guarantee temperament and behavior once placed in your home. The change of environment and handler may create unpredictable behaviors!

THE FINE PRINT

Please read their write-ups/bios/information closely BEFORE completing an application.

Each is written specifically to meet their needs and their requirements to adopt them. Please do not waste your time or ours by applying for a pet that you know you do not meet their needs.

We do NOT require the same criteria for every dog. Some dogs do not need a fence and some do not need a second dog. Therefore we will not require this to adopt BUT if the dog does need certain criteria to thrive in their new home then it becomes a requirement.

Examples:

"Must have fenced yard" this means we will NOT adopt to a home without a fence.

"Needs another active dog" this means we will NOT adopt to a home without another active dog.

* Dogs and cats in adopting home MUST be spayed or neutered, including outside cats, all animals must be current on vaccinations. We do vet reference checks to verify. (Exceptions can be made if a medical reason prevents spay, neuter or vaccinations)

* Puppies adopted prior to their spay/neuter age MUST be altered no later then 7 months.

* Cats are NOT to be declawed.

* No docking of tails or cropping of ears.

* We do not adopt to a home with outside dogs. We do make an exception for properly cared for barn cats .

* We do not adopt any animal to be an outside animal or be left outside for majority of their day.

* Puppy adoptions will NOT be approved to homes leaving pups alone for longer than 6 hours. A plan MUST be in place for proper socializing, mental enrichment, potty breaks and exercise.

Dog walker, pet visitor, day care are all options.

Puppies NEED socialized, enrichment and exercise to become a well-rounded adult dog.

* Following our adoption process is very important to maintain safety to our rescues, consistency and ease of transition. We do NOT bypass steps.

* Dog trial run MUST take place when you do NOT have other plans and need to leave your new friend within the first 2-3 days. This time needs to be “all about them.” Their transition during the first three days is the hardest for them and for you. Helping them transition properly creates “final adoptions."

Please do NOT have company over and/or take them all over visiting.

They NEED decompression time, adjustment time and patience while they learn you and your home.

Not meeting their needs early in the adoption process (trial run) will lead us to believe that your new friend will not be a priority.

Failure to follow our very important transition process will immediately force us to remove our rescue from your home.

* Transition time frame varies with each individual dog/cat. The average time frame is as follows; first three days are the toughest but takes up to two - three weeks for your new friend to feel comfortable in your home and around you.

* We are a positive reinforcement-based training rescue.

We do NOT agree with punishment and/or shock, prong collars etc.

Force, Fear or Pain techniques are NOT allowed for training .

We do allow underground or wireless fencing to be used ONLY if properly trained.

* All family members and current dogs must be present for the meet n greets with a rescue dog meet.

Adopter MUST be present at meet n greet.

Our rescues can NOT be a surprise pet to an adult.

* We reserve the right to deny any applicant.

* Applying for a rescue does not mean you are guaranteed to adopt the rescue.
