Columbia Humane Society is a No-Kill non-profit shelter dedicated to helping friends find each other since 1985.

We are a non-profit independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for companion animals.

We are supported solely by shelter income, our group fundraising efforts, and donations.

Potential adopters must fill out an adoption application. Applications are reviewed and the potential adopter is notified of the status of their app within 24-48 hours. Upon approval, adopter must make arrangements for pick-up of the dog/cat within 24 hours. Every adoption starts with a "7-day home visit". This is a trial period in which the adopter will take the dog/cat home for 7 days to make sure they are a good fit within the home/family. After the 7 day period, the adopter must return to the shelter to either complete the final adoption and receive all paperwork/records pertaining to the animal they adopted or to return the animal for a full refund if they choose to not complete the adoption.
