The City of Denton Animal Shelter is a temporary home to lost, unwanted and stray animals. Part of the Denton Police Department, the Animal Services Unit has full time officers who help citizens care for their pets in many ways.
Animals of all sorts spend time with us, from newborn kittens to potbelly pigs. We receive animals from unincorporated Denton County and many of the surrounding municipalities.
Our goal is to ensure humane care while the animals are in our custody, enable adoptions to individuals and facilitate transfers to rescue organizations, and humanely euthanize animals as necessary.
Our adoption fee is $120.00 for all dogs, this includes sterilization, Rabies Vaccines, exam, fecal exam and heartworm test if old enough. Adopted animals are transported to a local vet and you pick up your adopted animal after the vet visit.
