We are a small rescue specializing in herding breeds. We pull dogs from the Southeastern United States, predominantly Florida, that are on death row and literally have just hours. We take dogs of all ages and do not turn down dogs that are ill or heartworm positive. I rescued a border collie 3 years ago from a shelter, and that led to the discovery that there were many in shelters. I have property to keep dogs on and wanted to help them, so here we are today. We have a network of fosters. The dogs receive basic training, house manners, leash training, crate training, are housebroken, and vetted. We try very carefully to match dogs with people to diminish returns, and we do indeed have few returns.
Initial contact via email or phone, application to adopt must be filled out, references, especially vet refs and home checks, are done. Initial meet and greet, interview is set up. If all goes well, the dog is adopted at a set date. We do extensive education re care and integration of the dog, any current quirks or issues are discussed, feeding schedule, etc. Adopters are encouraged to call with questions and stay in contact.
