The mission of House of Misfits Rescue is to focus on dogs and cats in local (Chicagoland) open admission shelters, those who are urgent, and those who need extra TLC such as neonatal kittens, some medical and "behavior" cases. Our goal is to rehabilitate these animals and find them their forever homes. We hope you will join us on our journey to make the lives of animals a little better, no matter how long we have them.

First step is to fill out an adoption application. A member of our team will complete your application (vet reference, personal references, and an interview with you). Once you are approved to adopt from our rescue, you will talk to the foster of the animal you're interested in to determine if your home is a good fit. If all goes well a meet and greet is set up (virtual or in person depending on COVID related items). If that goes well, the adoption is finalized (contract and invoice) and the adopter can take the animal home.
