The Humane Society of Madison County operates the county animal shelter with the goal of placing all adoptable animals that come to our shelter. We also work closely with a local prison in a foster care training program for the dogs. Inmates also foster orphan kittens until they are big enough to be adopted. We use some off site adoption events to also try and find homes for the pets.

Must fill out an adoption application which is checked as quickly as possible. This might take a couple days. Once approved, a contract is filled out. Adoption fee for dogs is $105 and felines is $60. These includes testing, vaccines, rabies, spay/neuter. Dogs get a microchip.
