Description

We are a nonprofit animal rescue that strives to end canine neglect and build a bully-breed loving society through adoption programming and advocacy. We envision a society where bully breeds are accepted, and responsible pet ownership is expected. With occasional exceptions, all dogs available for adoption through our rescue are pit bulls, bully breeds and their mixes. Most are pulled from high-capacity municipal shelters and holding pens around our state, at risk of euthanasia due to breed, age, illness, injury, behavior, temperament, or lack of space. Once in rescue, each dog is placed in a foster home, where they are exposed to various environments to gauge behaviors, responses, and triggers. This process allows us to select the adoptive placement best suited for each individual dog. As a result, we operate on a “Best Fit” Model of Adoption, where every application is processed, and the home determined best suited to meet the needs of the specific dog is selected.

Adoption Process

Our adoption fee is $250. The fee ensures that the dog you have applied to adopt has its medical, training, social and emotional-mental needs met during its stay in our rescue program.

This includes, at minimum:

Age-appropriate spay/neutering

Age-appropriate vaccinations (DA2PP, Leptospirosis, Bordatella, Rabies)

Heartworm test (and treatment if positive)

Monthly Heartworm, Flea, and Tick prevention

Implanted microchip

Fecal test and appropriate deworming

LupinePet Collar and Leash set

Healthy, high-quality diet

Age-appropriate toys for physical and mental stimulation

Training (i.e., kennel training, potty training, leash training, basic manners), as age appropriate

The cost to care for one rescue animal in our program far exceeds the adoption fee, but we strive to keep adoptions affordable, as our goal is to place social, healthy pit bull and bully breed type dogs in screened, loving homes!

All applicants are required to submit a detailed adoption application, veterinary records for current pets, home check pictures, and references. Once all materials have been received, we conduct phone interviews with our executive team and select homes based on "best fit." After we approve a home to adopt a particular dog, we do a meet & greet followed by a hopeful adoption or trial adoption period. Upon completing an adoption, we file a standard adoption contract and any additional addendums as a result of a dog's behavioral or medical needs.
