McLean County Animal Control is a self-supporting (non tax payer funded) program designed to promote and protect public and animal safety in a variety of ways, including:
- Prevention and control of rabies through rabies vaccination registration and bite investigations
- Enforcement of county and state animal control and welfare laws
- In certain circumstances, the collection of stray animals
- Collection of bats within a home
- Adoption of eligible animals to responsible homes
- Promoting responsible pet ownership through education and community outreach
- At least 18 years or older
- Have photo identification with current address
- Be in compliance with local animal ordinances in regards to number of pets within a household
- Own permanent property or show proof of permission from landlord to allow for pets.
- Currently owned cats and dogs must be vaccinated for rabies and registered within the county they reside in.
- Pay applicable adoption fees
