Description

MRFRS is a nationally recognized, non-profit volunteer organization committed to ensuring the health and welfare of feral & domestic cats and kittens by promoting, pro-active, compassionate, no-kill programs. MRFRS was founded in 1992 in response to growth in the feral or homeless cat population along the Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA. The first progam of MRFRS was therefore TNR. Since then, the organization has grown to include and adoption center, a sanctuauary for feral & special needs cats, low cost spay neuter, a boarding program for those that need emergency boarding for their cats, a barn adoption program for relocation of feral cats, the Captain Courageous fund which assists injured cats and the Catmobile - a mobile spay/neuter clinic that travels to various locations and performs low cost Spay/neuter.

Adoption Process

We have a simple adoption questionaire that can be filled out either online or in person. In most cases we can do a same day adoption. Our adoptions fees are: Kittens (under 1 year): $175

Adults (1-10 years): $125

Special needs or over 10: $50

Every cat is spay/neutered before leaving, vaccinated, given flea treatment, de-wormer, microchipped and tested for FIV/FeLV.

At the time of the adoption, the adopter is asked to review and sign our adoption release form.
