We are a small group of people who are committed to helping pets in the city pound as well as other pets in need. Before Mitchell Animal Rescue started in 2008, all the pets MAR obtains from the city pound would have more than likely have been euthanized! We do not have a facility of our own and all of our pets are housed in foster homes.

Each pet is adopted by MAR from the city pound in Mitchell, SD (at a cost of over $50 per animal). The animal is placed in a foster home and vetted as needed. Applicants must submit an application. A MAR volunteer checks their references, contacts their Vet, and a home visit is conducted whenever possible. After the adoption is complete, MAR maintains the right to reclaim any animal that is not properly cared for.
