We are a municipal sheltering facility in Rome, Georgia. We handle animal sheltering and animal control functions in Floyd County Georgia. We are an open (but managed) intake facility and we do not euthanize animals for space. We only euthanize in the case of an animal being beyond veterinary care. We also network with local rescues to get our animals veterinary care so that they may be adopted after they are healed up from being sick or injured. As a result of this thinking, we maintain a 98% live outcome.
We have an open adoption process. We spay/neuter around 80% before they leave our facility. If they are too young to be spayed/neutered, they will be required to be spayed or neutered. We follow up on this to determine compliance and take steps to ensure they are altered. We also require that the animals will be housed in a safe and secure area.
