Second Chance Pet Rescue was formed for the Corning Animal Shelter, a high kill city shelter. We wanted to prevent the euthanasia of adoptable animals. Animals are trained to sit and walk on a leash, exercised twice a day, vaccinated, and sterilized before adoption. With the high pit bull population that comes we decided to get some education on the breed and have since developed our Ambassador program. Although the city shelter is technically a "kill" shelter, our group's involvement has resulted in no killing to make room for the last 3 years.

Pre-adoption screening to ensure a good fit of selected dog, $40 adoption fee. Pit Bull Ambassador program--all pit bulls obedience trained, prepared for Canine Good Citizen test, microchipped, heartworm tested, home visit required, adoption fee $135.
