Sumter County Animal Services is the county municipal animal shelter. The Mission of Sumter County Animal Services is to provide public safety when responding to reports of domestic animals at large, lost or in conflict with the community, and either finding placement with rescue groups or adopting out animals in our custody.
Our vision is to provide a safe community for our citizens and pets through effective and innovative programming that engages and provides resources to the public to ensure we save every healthy and treatable domestic animal in our custody.
Anyone can view adoptable animals in the shelter. There is an adoption application online. Fosters are required to live within 35 miles of the shelter and have up to date rabies vaccines for their owned animals. All adoptions are free!
