VRHS formed in 1969 to provide rescue services for stray animals in Cherokee and Clay Counties, NC. We try to provide humane services for stray and unwanted animals. We are the only Shelter in 3 counties.

fill out an adoption form and satisfy us that they can provide a good home for the "fixed" animal. We do not have the personnel for doing home visits. The adoption fee varies and is usually $100.
