We are Whis-Purr Rescue, Inc., a new 501c3 not-for-profit corporation dedicated to helping our feline friends. There are hundreds of strays, ferals and abandoned cats in neighborhoods in the community. Whis-Purr Rescue will work with these families, helping them find a lost cat’s home, trapping a feral, neutering and releasing back into the neighborhood where they can live and be fed daily or taken in to Whis-Purr Rescue for warmth and tender loving care until they can find their very own home.

Many animals are left to suffer on the street or are abandoned or killed by their owners. The lucky ones are taken to open-admission shelters. Many of the animals who make it to The Rainbow District Animal Shelter (an open-admission shelter) are reclaimed by their guardians or adopted into new homes.

We are a Pennsylvania state licensed non-profit 501C3 rescue kennel and a foster home network. Our primary focus is moms-to-be, moms with pups, pups, and small breed dogs. We have over 20 years experience in canine care and training. I have been involved in rescuing animals since I was a child. The first litter I bottle raised was at age 14. I chose to focus on pregnant dogs and mom w pups. I have a special place in my heart for them. I see so many other 'rescues' leaving mom behind, or dumping mom after the pups are weaned and we do not do that. We love moms and we treat them like one of the family until we can find the perfect home for them. Educating people on spaying and neutering is key.

Our mission is to rescue dogs and puppies from kill shelters and transfer to rescue in order to reduce the number of animal euthanasia in shelters, while assisting in a reducing overpopulation. FHR provides assimilation from shelter life to home life in approved foster homes while working to find each dog a fur-ever home. Finally, we will not further add to the population problem by assuring that all of our rescues are spayed and neutered, and that all companion animals in the adoptive home of appropriate age are spayed or neutered.

We are a small dedicated group of volunteers that get the dogs out of shelters on the PTS list. They go into foster homes where they are cleaned up, given love and attention until the perfect home is found. Dogs stay in the program until adopted. All dogs go to their new home with services complete.

BHLP was founded in response to the plight of cats and dogs left homeless by neglect, abandonment or abuse. We aim to improve their lives by providing direct care and safe environments. All too often these animals either end up being euthanized or exist on the street with little or no shelter or food, subjected to illness and starvation. By ignoring their plight, we risk perpetuating cat and dog overpopulation, with dire consequences. Our objective is to reduce the number of animals left uncared for and homeless. Our approach is to provide direct care, partner with supportive businesses, organizations and individuals to provide rescue services ranging from feeding to veterinary care to finding temporary and permanent homes for these animals. We also are committed to the idea that education is essential in alleviating the conditions of animal homelessness and abuse and strive to bring awareness through various community and school programs. We hope that by providing and facilitating essential services for neglected, abandoned and abused animals, we will ultimately eradicate animal homelessness and the problems associated with it.

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily support the East County Animal Shelter (ECAS) in Dublin, CA to help owners locate their missing pets and to assist people selecting a pet to adopt. Tri-Valley Animal Rescue also places animals from ECAS and other area shelters in foster care in the homes of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them perrmanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page (http://www.tvar.org/RP_WebDoc.asp?ttid=171) for information.

Shelter Friends is a nonprofit organization established to promote the health and welfare of homeless animals in St. Charles, MO. We are not a rescue group; we are a shelter assistance and networking group whose purpose is to help homeless animals located in animal control to escape euthanasia by finding rescue or adoption. We help care for the animals at the shelter, take them to and from vet appointments, assist with funds for vetting, and network the animals through email and social media to help find homes or rescue.

Cat Angels Pet Adoptions is a cat and kitten rescue and adoption organization in the Triangle Area of NC. We are a no-kill shelter. Our goal is to help homeless, abandoned and abused cats and kittens find safe, loving, permanent homes. Every cat and kitten available for adoption has been spayed or neutered, is completely vaccinated, tested for Feline Leukemia or FIV, microchipped with a Home Again microchip and has been dewormed. We have a Lifetime Return Policy for all of our cats and kittens. For whatever reason, we will gladly accept any of our cats and kittens back into our program. Additionally, we have a TNR program to help homeless cats. We take in as many kittens as we can and socialize them to become adoptable pets.

Greyhound Pets of America Minnesota

Greyhound Pets of America is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 1987 for the purpose of finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds and educating the public on the suitability and availability of greyhounds as pets. Greyhound Pets of America Minnesota (GPA MN) is a Twin Cities based volunteer run organization, dedicated to rescuing and placing retired racing greyhounds. 100% of our greyhounds live in foster homes where they can acclimate to their new lives as retired racers. This process helps us to better understand the personality of each dog so that we can make the best possible match with their new family. We test each greyhound to see if they can live with small animals, and many of our fosters go on to live in families with other pets, including cats. We have great success in matching our hounds and families through our foster process.

We also have a transport program available to get shelter animals to safety. Our group also offers free transport for people in our community to have their animals spayed/neutered. We fully fund our shelter's vaccination program and raise money to have many of the animals spayed or neutered making them more adoptable.

The Ark of Hope Rescue, Inc. is a rescue organization, located near Cumberland, MD, that takes in abused, neglected and/or abandoned animals. Together Dianne Care, her husband Bobby, their son Bobby 3, and their daughter Elizabeth are the folks who take care of the animals and run the Ark. Over the years Dianne has been rescuing animals, but the cost of vet bills, food for the animals, spaying and neutering, as well as the numerous other supplies needed to do this became too financially prohibitive; so, they decided to set up an organization where others would learn about caring for dogs, cats, etc., and hopefully people would decide that they wanted to help. They have built a new building suitable for some long term rescues. These are the animals that come here in need of medical attention, or with slight behavior problems that need to be addressed before they are placed in new homes, as well as other reasons.

We started in June of this year. We have taken in many dogs that are on death row and done some rehabilitation to dogs that would have been otherwise euthanized. We have also started a pay it forward program for senior and special needs pets where adopters have to go through the same steps, however their adoption fee is a 100 donation to a local charity in the adopters name or 10-15 hours of community service.

Cat Town was formed by long term volunteers of Oakland Animal Services, Oakland's municipal shelter. We started Cat Town to save the cats most likely to be euthanized because they can't handle the stress of the shelter or are considered "unadoptable" - cats who are shy, stressed, sick or older. We get them into foster homes where they can relax and show their true personalities and get them adopted from there.
