sammie's boarding school for wayward kittens

Vallejo
California

Hello! My name is Renee and I have always loved animals dearly. My first pet was actually a duck we saved from slaughter. I was 4 years old, so I am not sure you could call it my pet. I love animals, and you can always find me following the animals around at parties. I am that person. I always have been. My first actual pet was a cat named Sam, or Sammie. He is the name sake of this rescue, and this rescue embodies the spirit of who he was. He loved kittens and always bonded to at least one. Even if he was a crabby old man, the kittens brought out the young man in him and always brightened his world. He was an extraordinary cat who everyone loved. He was my best friend, and honestly, my protector. He was my emotional support animal and was there when I needed him, most times before I even knew that I needed him. He was so in tune with me that he would care for and comfort me when I was sick or in pain. He was unlike any other. I started this rescue in his name, due to his love and my love of kittens and cats in need. Especially kittens and young cats. I focus heavily on adoptable cats caught through TNR that otherwise would be breeding and left outside, when they can be brought inside and adopted. They are a simple resolution to a complex issue. The more adoptable cats I can get off the streets and altered, the better. Another special mission of mine is pregnant mom cats and kittens found outside. I find them the most vulnerable, and they hold a special place in my heart. This season, I recently delivered my first litter of kittens, and I find it to be my most proud accomplishment. It was not an uncomplicated delivery or litter early on. They all had their issues, and so did the delivery and mom cat. Everyone is happy and healthy now, and finally ready for adoption, but I am so proud of how far they have all come. I try to go back to colonies and TNR where cats came from to reduce population growth, or at least let other larger organizations I work with know about them so that they can be helped. I believe in closing that loop, so all cats are helped and no one is left behind. As a small rescue, sometimes it is hard to do, alone.

Forgotten Paws Dog Rescue

Georgia
30101
Forgottenpawsatlanta@gmail.com
Forgotten Paws has been in operation for almost 25 yrs. Our main focus is on dogs with social, behavioral, medical and senior issues. We have plenty of dogs without these issues but that is what we get called upon to help most of all bc other rescues won’t take those animals. We work with a local cat trapping group to help with kittens in the area and spaying feral colonies. We are a very small organization, with a handful of volunteers, that are far outnumbered by the animal in our organization. We have a kennel house but try to place most of the animals into foster homes. The kennel house is mainly for the socially dysfunctional, bite dogs and seniors.

Pippi's Place Pet Rescue

1290 Kelly Nelson Drive
Georgia
30043
adoptions@pippisplace.org(404) 884-8130
Pippi’s Place Pet Rescue is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and kittens through the support of local Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs as well as placement of available felines in permanent homes. We will rescue animals who are homeless due to owner surrender, endangered due to abandonment/neglect/abuse, and those at risk of being euthanized at area shelters. We will place feline companions in loving homes following a comprehensive screening process which includes ensuring a good match between the animal and prospective adopter as well as educating potential adopters about the responsibilities associated with bringing a cat into their home. All cats and kittens will be spayed or neutered, receive appropriate veterinary care including any necessary treatment, and will be placed in caring foster homes until the time of adoption. We will work closely with local shelters and other rescue organizations to promote the importance of spaying/neutering companion animals. We will work with these agencies to develop a network of supporters and volunteers so that we may create a better world for homeless animals.
