We are a new cat rescue in Anderson County supporting the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. We have fostered for years cats from this shelter and now setting up our own rescue to adopt.

The mission of the Lycoming County SPCA is to protect all domestic animals by: providing shelter, emergency treatment, investigation, and prosecution of cruelty or abuse complaints; adoption and counseling; education programs; and humane care throughout Lycoming County.

Our core programs: COMMUNITY CATS We work with local caregivers to stabilize populations and improve the health and well-being of community cat colonies by providing resources and facilitating targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts. “OUTDOOR” DOGS Our goal is to provide community members with “outdoor” dogs access to affordable spay/neuter assistance and improved outdoor environments through fence repairs, shelters, and other infrastructure improvements. RAPID RESPONSE RESCUE We provide on-the-ground assistance in the southeast region to areas affected by natural disasters through recovery efforts and rescue assistance.

Our goal is to make El Paso a “no-kill” community by 2020 — but we need your help! Join our lifesaving mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering or donating. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable environment for the pets in our care and in the community, and promote responsible pet ownership through outreach efforts and community involvement.

FosterBabyCats was born out of the desire to provide the greatest level of care for cats and kittens needing a forever home. Frustrated with partnering with shelters who turn away kittens to drive higher survival rate numbers or make questionable care decisions based on a cost benefit analysis, we wanted to be better. Unconstrained by the traditional shelter business model, we believe every life is worth saving. At FosterBabyCats, every cat and kitten receives the individual care and attention required for them to thrive. Our mission is to turn neglected or unwanted cats and kittens into healthy, thriving, members of a household through extraordinary care, constant attention day and night, and proper placement into households befitting of their individual personalities. Traditional shelters reject kittens that do not have a strong chance of survival (newborn orphans, kittens with congenital defects, or kittens showing signs of trauma) so that their programs can seem more successful to the public. While we may not be able to save every kitten, we can help them leave the world warm, with a full belly, and knowing that they were loved. In addition to helping kittens grow healthy and find forever homes, we work with the community to spay and neuter stray and feral cats. We want to help end the cycle of homeless kittens.

We are primarily a cat rescue group for strays, abandoned, surrendered, local shelter or other cats at risk. We assist with TNR. Jenifer Brooks has been involved with cat rescue for 5 years working with Cats in Tow and MeoowzResQ. Ed Michalek has been in rescue for 17 years and is a founder, director and active with Kitty Katchers Inc (Portal # 1868)

We rescue and re-home Abandoned animals from shelters and those surrendered by the community in New York and the island of Puerto Rico since 2008.

We provide services to existing 501c3 rescue and shelter groups so that we can, collectively, increase our impact. We are a one stop shop for boarding, veterinary care, neonate kitten nursery, grooming, behavioral classes for animals and their owners.We do what we do because we believe all animals deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and compassion and envision a world where all dogs and cats find their forever homes.

ABOUT US How exactly is the Un-Shelter different from the many other area and regional animal rescues/shelters? Excellent question: · We commit to a small, manageable number of adoptable animals. Period. (Welfare lingo = limited intake) We believe in highly-enriched environments, from home-like kennel spaces to outdoor play. · Our adoption process is different: the emphasis will always be on “best fit, including energy levels and personality. The process begins with a conversation, leads to several animal introductions, counseling at time of adoption (“how-tos” are important!), and ongoing help where needed. · Community is our passion! We want our space to be the hub of the wheel offering humane education, pet-related activities for children and families, social activities for pet caretakers, opportunities to connect pet-related service providers to animal guardians, and as a gathering and event space to serve a variety of community needs. We don’t want you to leave our family! · In our world, ‘community’ also extends to other similar minds, so we provide active support to other shelters and rescues in the region. Our goal is to be a leader in proactive evidence-based education and best practices for staff and volunteers at other area and state-wide shelters and rescues, both on our property and on the road.
