Kentucky Kitty Cats, Inc.

Kentucky
42333
Kykittycats@yahoo.com(270) 256-1803
We have been doing this for over 8 years and just continue to evolve. Our main goal is to keep cats out of our shelters so they don’t get sick and die or be euthanized. We used to hold kitties till 3-4 months and spay/neuter and send to larger rescues for store adoptions. Many of the cats we get do not do well in the stores or are skittish when we get them. So we began looking for quality homes with experienced cat owners. It seems the more we do, the less the shelters around us do. They closed their doors to intakes back early in March when the virus hit and cats are being thrown everywhere to birth and nurse kittens in the cold outdoors or wherever they can try to find safety. It is heartbreaking. Since so many new fosters have stepped up, we decided now was our time to grow. But my records are a mess. I need desperate help.

Burge Bird Rescue

13833 S US HIGHWAY 71
Missouri
64030
burgebirdrescue@yahoo.com(816) 356-4700
I am a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience who treats birds exclusively, and I started Burge Bird Rescue in conjunction with my avian veterinary practice. Clients visiting our hospital are able to see adoptable birds thru a window in the exam room, as well as via a large window in the lobby. We rescue birds because most other shelters will not accept birds, but they are the third most commonly kept type of pet, and the need for rehoming is great, especially for the large parrots that can easily outlive their owners.

We aim to fill the gap left by budget shortfalls within organizations and the city. When animal control or Parks & Wildlife says "we don't do that." We do. We often rescue ducklings from storm drains, cats stuck in trees, etc. while also saving animals from euthanasia and finding them new homes.

A Reason To Believe Animal Rescue

Williamson
West Virginia

artbar.wv@gmail.com(304) 784-6678
The mission of A Reason To Believe Animal Rescue is to rescue homeless or neglected domestic animals (including but not necessarily limited to dogs and cats), provide veterinary care, and get them placed them in great adoptive homes. All are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We house these animals in foster homes, kennels, or boarding as needed. We work in collaboration with shelters, veterinarians, rescues, owners needing to rehome their pets, and the public. We work to reduce the animal overpopulation issue by spaying and neutering as part of our process. We work to ensure the safety of the public by vaccinating according to the law and as the health of the animal permits based on the recommendations of our veterinarian. We treat for parasites, injuries, dentals, skin or ear infections. etc. No, we cannot afford to pay your vet bill, but if you choose to surrender your sick or injured pet to us, we will fundraise to get it the care it needs.

Gadsden Co. is the second poorest county in the state of FL. Demographics indicate low education and economic levels leading to high incidence of animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, dog fighting, etc. Prior to our organization becoming active about 1500 dogs/cats were euthanized each year. Since inception in 2011, we have been able to curtail the number of animals euthanized in 1/2. Last year, 750 animals were put to sleep. The community has responded well to our approach of offering LOW COST s/n vouchers which is now a self-promoting process.

DPS was started 30 plus years ago by Jeannie Cornelius. At one time she had 49 dogs in her care. Through a mutual friend I become involved and took on the President role when we moved here two years ago. We have both been life long animal lovers and feel a soul connection to them all. I worked with the Austin Humane Society as a dog volunteer (I'm allergic to cats but have 3) prior to moving.
