Our mission is to help alleviate the suffering of Golden Retrievers in need: those who have been abandoned, abused, neglected, have lost their homes or families, or are in need of medical help. As an all-volunteer organization, we will fulfill this purpose by evaluating the health and behavior of the dogs we take in, providing medical care as needed, screening potential adopters, and placing our rescued Goldens in appropriate homes. Our service area encompasses primarily Ventura County and southern Santa Barbara County.

We strive to provide a safe, loving, home environment for Rat Terriers who are abandoned, abused, neglected, or homeless while they await a safe loving lifelong home of their own. We are committed to educating current and prospective owners on the special needs and temperament of Rat Terriers in order to promote responsible ownership and to prevent future displaced terriers.

To save the lives of homeless, sick and injured cats and kittens, and achieving this goal by compassionately rescuing, providing shelter, fostering, adopting and providing hospice and veterinary services, in order to end needless feline euthanasia in our community, with the ultimate objective of having every cat or kitten being wanted and loved.

We are a group of individuals who want to help dogs in need. We pull dogs from kill shelters, take owner surrenders and also take dogs from hoarding situations and breeders who have been shut down. We provide veterinary care for the dogs, spay/neuter, provide a safe and loving foster home and then try to find match the dog with an appropriate forever home.

Cross My Heart’s mission is to prevent the overcrowding of animal shelters in the greater Birmingham area of Alabama, where innocent dogs are routinely put to rest to make room for incoming strays. We concentrate on pulling dogs on death row at local shelters. It is each volunteer’s mission to rescue, provide sanctuary for and ultimately re-home these abandoned, abused and neglected dogs. Occasionally, we assist in providing temporary care for dogs of owners experiencing extenuating circumstances, causing them to be unable to care for their pets. Cross My Heart achieves its mission by utilizing foster homes throughout the greater Birmingham area. In these homes, foster families provide loving care for dogs until they are placed in permanent homes. Such care includes the following: any necessary medical attention, de-worming, shots, spaying and neutering. Early spaying and neutering is used only when such methods are deemed safe by our veterinarian When time permits, dogs will undergo in-house, crate and basic obedience training. We also evaluate each dog’s temperament and personality to ensure proper placement in the best family/home possible.

Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Rescue is a 501 c 3 no-kill, charitable organization dedicated to the care of homeless, unwanted, abused, and neglected pitbulls, particularly those who are considered hard to place or with special needs. All dogs under our care are provided with food, shelter, veterinary care, as well as basic house-training and obedience until placement is found. We will try to match the dog and appropriate, loving, and permanent home based on the dog's temperament & personality evaluation as well as the prospective home's vet & home check. Veterinary care provided will ensure that the dog is in general good health, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Additionally,"Friends to the Forlorn" Pitbull Rescue Inc. takes pride in educating the public in the importance of proper and responsible pitbull ownership, spaying & neutering, as well as the humane care and treatment of all animals.

Pup-Eez Pet Care and Rescue is the area representative for the national advocacy group Dogs Deserve Better. We assist all dogs in need, however, particular focus is directed toward chained, penned, backyard, and abandoned dogs. Our goal is to bring the dog into the home and family through education and other necessary assistance, or, alternatively, to re-home the dog where it will be a treasured member of the family.

We have an adoption center called The Hopeful Hound that we currently adopt out of.

We are a small rescue organization founded by two teachers in 1999, when a stray cat wandered onto one of our doorsteps. Since then, we have obtained our 501(C)3 status and have rescued over 1400 animals from the euthanasia lists of local shelters. We only rescue euthanasia list animals from shelters--we do not take public surrenders. All animals are fostered in homes (not kept in cages). We hold adoption fairs weekly at our local Pet Food Express stores. We also assist with TNR and offer financial support for spaying/neutering and for other rescues (for specical needs rescue animals, specifically. We are focused on saving and altering cats in our area--our local shelter has a 90 percent euthanasia rate for cats and intakes approximately 14,000 per year. So the need is dire. We absolutely love what we do--we adore the people we meet and have become lifelong friends with several of our adopters. Animals are our "connectors" to all that is good in life:)
