Hi, I'm Laurie, and welcome to Save a Small Dog Rescue, Inc. We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 tax exempt , California, charitable organization. We are a public benefit corporation. With the help of myself and others, we rescue small breed dogs from high kill shelters, owner turn-ins, and displaced dogs. We adopt them from our home in Phelan and partner with PETCO on the weekends. We are devoted to providing lots of love, nurturing, socialization ( which is a big factor), and patience with the dogs in our care. In return, we want to find people who will love them as much as we do. We are located in the High Desert, Phelan, next to Victorville and Hesperia. We house dogs less than twenty pounds. Maureen and I both worked at a Human Society were they Euthanized for space, temperment, health even including ringworm. We did not agree with a lot of the awefull things we saw and decided to start our own no kill rescue (except for pain and suffering)We take in dogs and puppies into our own homes and provide their vet care and altering. We take care of any medical issues even treating for parvo. We have been very successful with treatments. Since this is our home the dogs we take must get along with other dogs, cats and children use to pets. The rescue dog then gets started on training from the moment it comes and gets to join our own family pack of well adjusted dogs. This is a great help in their development. We both have fenced yards. We also do corrective training depending on how bad for food aggression, toy agression and just any issues they may have. We do not take a rescue that we do not think we can help because the animal will stay for life if not adopted. We also take mill dogs and these are a challenge and a long process. We cannot take large quanities at his time because we have several old dogs and a few that have not adopted for life. When they have lifed their life out naturally a space opens up. IF we have a purbreed we do try to get them into a purbreed rescue because their adoption chances are higher and they know how to work with their breed specifics.

Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc.

PO Box 308
Kansas
66007
lvncohs@live.com
Our Vision: Leavenworth County sets the standard for humane communities – becoming a place where all animals are treated humanely, and every pet has a loving forever home. We believe that: Animals are capable of pleasure and pain, and are worthy of human compassion. Humans have a moral responsibility to treat animals humanely. People want to provide lifelong appropriate care for their animals. Companion animals enhance the quality of human life. Violence, cruelty and neglect toward animals is related to violence, cruelty and neglect toward humans. Promoting compassion toward animals encourages people to treat each other with respect and kindness. Humane communities attract law-abiding, responsible citizens that contribute to the overall quality of life for all.

Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc

Georgia
30012
HARI@bellsouth.net(678) 964-4274
HARI is a new rescue. However, we are continuing the activities we did for another rescues, For Paws Sake, Inc., in our county. Lori and I have been in rescue for over 25 years combined. Lori has rescued all over the US and Peurto Rico while her husband was in the service. Lori is a teacher at a private school and takes her animals into the classroom. The kids are rewarded by being able to help her with bottle feeding and care of puppies and sick animals. It is just another incentive for learning. In her math classes they are taught to figure out doses for the animal and ozs to be fed. Dianne is retired and works for the animals as a full time job. She works very closely with the local Animal Control. Hometown is very active in raising funds for the local AC to provide Parvo, Distemper, and Bordatella shots for each animal that enters the Shelter. In that way we are lowering the breakout rate in the Shelter and once animals are claimed or adopted in the community. We hold monthly vaccine clinics with $10 shots for Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, Bordatella, and Feline Distemper. Micro Chips including registration are $20. We plan to implement a spay/neuter program in AC and for the public the beginning of next year. Why we do it? To improve the quality life and health of the animals in our community, thus improving the quality of life of the humans who live here. Our Mission statment pretty well says it. Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc is a group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, sanctuary and re homing of local stray and neglected dogs. We work in alliance with the local animal control to build an animal friendly community, encourage respect and compassion for all animals and advocate responsible pet ownership. Hometown Animal Rescue, Inc will accomplish this through educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter and general pet care and health. We will set the example of humane care and treatment through our rescue efforts and demonstrate pet owner responsibility we want current and future pet owners to emulate. It is our desire that other counties see the success of our network of supporters and volunteers and thus implement similar programs to benefit the animals and citizens of their own community.
