We are the Marshall County Humane Society located in Holly Springs, MS, a non-profit organization made up of a very active and dedicated group of volunteers. Our goals are to educate people on responsible pet ownership and to reduce the homeless pet population through adoptions and encouraging spay/neuter.

Pet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for as long as 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds.While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and perhaps heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home.

Beagles & Buddies rescues purebred and mixed Beagles, as well as other hounds and small dogs, from public shelters, dog owners and other rescues. Each dog receives a medical exam and any necessary medical and other treatment. All vaccinations are updated based on the history available for the dog. Beagles & Buddies spays or neuters all dogs to assist in the fight against pet overpopulation. We observe their temperament and personality and match them up with other kennel buddies they can play with. Beagles & Buddies finds safe, new homes for almost all of its dogs. In accordance with our no-kill policy, our rescue facility keeps any dog that is not adopted.

Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.™) is a 501c3 all volunteer organization that works to find homes for unwanted and abandoned animals, serves as an educational and counseling resource for communities on Chicago's North Shore and for current and prospective pet owners, and works to reduce pet overpopulation. We currently work out of Evanston's municipal animal shelter. Since our founding in 1987, C.A.R.E. has been responsible for the adoption of thousands of dogs and cats that would have otherwise been euthanized. C.A.R.E. provides medical treatment and conducts all adoptions for the shelter animals. Each day, the 100+ C.A.R.E. volunteers assume responsibility for total care of all Shelter animals. Each volunteer puts in anywhere from 3 to 30+ hours every week, both at the Shelter and in activities outside the Shelter, performing functions such as: - Walking Dogs - Exercising Cats - Cleaning cages and kennel areas - Bathing and grooming animals - Working with frightened, anti-social animals - Paying for veterinary care, inoculations, and vaccinations - Transporting animals to and from veterinary clinics - Working with veterinarians at the Shelter as part of a testing/inoculation program initiated by C.A.R.E. - Medicating animals as directed by veterinarians - Feeding & watering animals on evenings, weekends, and holidays - Washing bowls, toys, towels, bedding, etc. - Working with Evanston Animal Wardens as needed to comply with city rules & assure accreditation by the Department of Agriculture - Interviewing all potential adopters in-depth and then matching appropriate animals with adopters - Conducting all adoptions, filling out required paperwork, administrating follow-up program - Supplementing city food budget with volunteer funds to provide higher quality food for Shelter animals - Purchasing additional equipment not in city budget to maintain quality care for Shelter animals (including such things as cages, kennel fan, vaccine refrigerator, washing machine, clothes dryer, etc.) - Conducting on-going fund-raising to raise monies to cover all expenses - Conducting community out-reach programs to educate residents on responsible pet care Volunteers are frequently called upon to take animals into their homes and "foster" them in times of overcrowding at the Shelter and when animals need special care.

Ozark Haven is a 5013c recognized, Limited Liability Corporation, MO State Lisc. Animal Rescue. We have our paws in many projects for Southern Missouri Dogs. In addition to our Foster Care Program for homeless dogs to seek adoption into forever homes, our sister site www.petfinder.com/shelters/MO207.html is our Safety Forum. This site features dogs in our communities. These dogs are not in foster care but remain in their original situation. Ozark Haven is part of a huge network and often the dogs in the Safety Forum are seen by other rescues and find safety. In our continued work with CARE, a Not for Profit Homeless Dog Transport we can offer SO MO dogs a chance to reach populations where they arent as common and have better adoption potential. Dogs that live rurally in the forest communities of Southern Missouri dont have municipalities or other agencies to help them. They often burden the hillsides and face horrible violent fates. Our Safety Forum provides those dogs fair and equal web exposure to find safe screened options for life!! Our Dominicks Honor program addresses the deadly practice of tethering. People will tie anything around a dogs neck. Our local rural administrations are not concerned with the deadly act of tethering. As a charity we cannot lobby but we sure can offer light weight harnesses and cables to improve the life of dogs that are tethered. While sharing the gift of painless tethering, we always offer our Safety Forum services in hopes of moving these dogs to a home with appropriate care practices. Our Littering the Ozarks Program has been a successful one, we plan to build on this in the New Year. We will offer screened placement of unwanted litters in the community if the owners of the mother will consent to allow us to spay her. This program has been well received in our communities and is a targeted program for growth in 08. And finally, our Feral Dog Project MO. Feral dogs are a symptom of "dumping". Abandonment plaques our communities. With limited options for unwanted pets, dumping on a country road is common place. The survivors of these dumpings often find disease, starvation, conficts with wildlife and violent deaths are their only reward. The strongest survivors may be a natural enemy to fielded livestock, chickens or local small game such as rabbits and squirrels, at which time they become hunted themselves. They threat our farmers and burden our food chain. Feral Dog Project MO supports the use of humane trapping, rehabbing and placement of these dogs. In the future we hope to build a compound for feral dogs that will not make human companions. Here they could continue to live "wild" but with safety and care. These would be the exception as many is the time these lost terrified souls make wonderful pets!!
