We are a Giant Breed dog rescue that wants to provide a safe place for large to giant size dogs during their transition from whatever situation they might be in (i.e. stray, owner surrender, shelter pick up). We want to educate the public on how to care for these gentle giants and help match the dogs to good lifelong homes.

I am a 53 year old woman who has rescued animals all of my life. As a child i constantly picked up strays to re-home. This continued into my adult life. I rescued my first dog from a fight ring and drug house in 2013. Samson was the first dog i owned in 14 years. He was also the best dog I ever owned. Samson was a mastiff/shar-pei mix. His brother Memphis came along in a couple of months. In 2016 Samson was poisoned. I spent every day and over 2,000 dollars trying to save him. By the time we figured out what was going on. It was too late. I began to educate myself on dog poisoning and breed selection. Samson never hurt anyone. This led me to the world of animal rescues. Though I know i will never have Samson back on earth. If I can save one dog and educate people about breed selection and dog poisoning. Then I feel as if Samson would be proud.

Small group of dedicated volunteers working to save huskies, husky mixes, and sometimes other dogs from shelters, people needing to regime their dogs and/or abandoned or injured dogs throughout the state of New Mexico and region.

We started out wanting to adopt a dog thru another local rescue a few years ago. Our resident dog didn't like the dog we wanted to adopt, so we decided to foster instead. Over the years we worked with that rescue, fostered several dogs, mostly puppies, and developed a profound need to help these dogs in our community.

We are a foster-based cat rescue. We only take cats from local animal impounds which are the most at risk populations. Sara, the president, volunteers at the Bismarck/Mandan animal impound and saw the need for additional rescue services.

I have almost 30 years of gsd rescue experience with my current rescue. I moved to NC from NY and need to start a new rescue that will identify me with the south and not NY. BMSR will be a small group that rescues the gsds that no other rescues want. Many are the ones that are in shelters marked 'rescue only.' I am a trainer and want to make a difference. I love the breed and understand the breed. I love to see these broken, sad and scared dogs turn into wonderful and happy dogs. I love making them healthy and enjoy seeing their confidence grow so they can have a great life. I make them good dogs and I look for homes that will make them great dogs by giving them more love and training. I am EXTREMELY particular about finding the right home for each dog based on their needs. I won't save a lot of dogs but the ones I do will get the best of everything I can provide for them. It's a calling I have had all my life. When I get too old to take the dogs with issues, I want to turn my rescue into a sanctuary for older dogs that need a loving place for their final years. I cannot imagine my life not doing rescue.

We have a simple but important mission: to help all dogs and cats in need. We are committed to providing the utmost care for homeless/abused/neglected dogs and cats, and finding them true forever homes. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit Rescue organization.
