I love dogs. They have given me so much through my life when I had troubles as a child and adult. I want to give back what they've given to me. We are a private and small organizaiton and are not funded in any way except small donations and adoption donations. We work with local shelters in Atlanta, Orlando, Orange Park, Broward County, Jacksonville, and other cities to pull dogs that are deemed unadoptable. We also accept owner surrenders.

Alaqua Animal Refuge was founded in 2007 by Walton County, Fla.-resident Laurie Hood when she discovered that countless animals were being euthanized due to the lack of a no-kill shelter/adoption organization in the area. Since that time, Alaqua Animal Refuge has helped find homes for more than 5,000 animals. Currently, up to 100 animals are adopted per month from this unique shelter and adoption center, which serves as a true refuge for more than 250 animals at any given time. Providing programs to the community is also central to Alaqua Animal Refuge’s mission. Since 2008, the shelter has offered its S.N.A.P. Program, providing free or low-cost spay and neuter procedures to more than 2,000 animals per year. As we grow and develop our facility and operations, we will adhere to our guiding purpose: To give neglected, lost and abandoned animals a chance at life.

ABOUT SOUTH FLORIDA SIBERIAN HUSKY RESCUE INC. South Florida Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit organization. We assist in finding homes for abused and/or neglected and abandoned purebred Siberian Huskies, as well as those that are owner surrenders. We also offer placement assistance for dogs that can be fostered by their current owners. Other services include counseling, training assistance, breed information, and advice to Siberian Husky owners in need of solving problems with their dogs in order to help them find alternatives to surrendering their pets. We will also post for free lost/found Siberian Huskies on our website. South Florida Siberian Husky Rescue, Inc. was founded for the following purpose: 1. Rescuing abused, abandoned, and owner surrendered purebred Siberian Huskies 2. Promoting spaying and neutering 3. Finding quality homes for rescued Siberian Huskies 4. Preventing cruelty to Siberian Huskies through education about the breed 5. Educating the public about responsible pet ownership 6. Attempting to eliminate back yard breeders and puppy mills

Adopt A Stray is a foster care program. We do not have a shelter and all the pets have lived in our homes. We guide the public to low cost sterilization to prevent the number one cause of death which is overpopulation. We are dedicated volunteers who are passionate about the lives we save.
