CARE Pet Rescue is a volunteer-run, animal rescue that saves stray and abandoned dogs and cats from euthanasia or further abuse and neglect. With no boarding facility or shelter of our own, CARE pets live in local homes where they receive medical care and rehabilitation to get them ready for their forever homes. CARE Pet Rescue seeks not only to place dogs into loving homes, but also to educate dog owners about responsible pet ownership. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to about one hundred animals every year, provide them with loving care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened, forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. No board members or employees at CARE Pet Rescue are paid a salary. Their time with the rescue, whether it be in an administrative role or working directly with the animals, is volunteer only. With shelters at their maximum capacity a lot of times, rescues are necessary in all communities. Rescuing and being able to home deserving pets into foster homes, and not in noisy kennels, feels really good. All pets deserve what we can give our rescue pets.

I am the director and we bring dogs in that are found on the streets, owner surrenders, from shelters, we vet them and make sure they are fully vetted. We adopt to home owners for pit bulls only and if we have other dogs not pit bull we adopt them to those who are renters. The goal of home owners is less returns. We are huge on safety and do education . We want to part of the solution and not the problem and cut down on dogs going to the shelters. We feel they best in the home environment

AWF is the only rescue located in Jones County. We do not have a shelter yet, but are working on building one. All pets are kept in foster homes until adoption. These foster homes are inspected twice a year. Awf came into existence in 2003. We are a no-kill shelter which means we have limited admission. Prior to our existence in 2003, all stray dogs not reclaimed were euthanized. Since 2003, not one adoptable dog has been put down. We are an all-volunteer organization made up of animal-loving residents of the community that want to help all pets get a loving home for life.

We live in a primarily rural area with a 50% poverty level and 40% non Caucasian/transient population. Due to the farmer mentality or disposable mentality of our area many pets find them selves homeless due to no fault of their own. We take in animals that are neglected, abandon, injured or just unwanted. We rehabilitate them and then re-home them through our adoption process. We have been solely foster based since 2010 and are currently building our new facility. We do it all with volunteers and we do it because we love it! The animals deserve better and we try our best to offer them that by doing what we can, when we can, the best we can, with what we have and with all our heart.

Many of our volunteers have been working together for a few years. We were part of a multi state weim rescue (Heartland Weim Rescue) then broke off and Started the Iowa Weimaraner Rescue so we could better concentrate on Iowa. We setup a board of directors and filled a few coordinator spots. We have filed for 501(c)(3) and that is in process but not returned. We expect it soon but it's not final. As of now we're just applying to check out the Pet Portal but maybe interested in more services. My own situation is that I work in IT for a living and volunteer for the group trying to coordinate their IT. I have been involved with the group for a couple years. I also help at events and do transports when we need them to bring a dog into rescue (we don't transport dogs to permanent homes.) I'm anxious to check out the pet portal and see if that could help us. I also have some thoughts/questions about your data management as to what that can do but we'll see down the road on that.

Our mission is to humanely care for homeless pets, return them to their current owners, or adopt them to new loving homes. We will educate the public about responsible pet ownership & the importance of spaying & neutering their pets. Marion County Humane Society was founded in November 1986 operating out of the former city dog pound. Through the years they have returned lost pets to their owners, educated the public of the importance of spaying & neutering , & seen a major decline in the number of abandoned pets. The volunteers have placed over 5000 unwanted dogs & cats. In October 2000 the volunteers made a decision to close the MCHS. The facility had detireoted beyond repair. In June 2008 after raising over $230,000 the MCHS opened the doors of their new facility.

The Boone Area Humane Society was founded in 1977. We believe that because people domesticated animals, we have a responsibility to ensure their welfare. To ensure humane treatment, we respond to animal neglect and abuse calls, provide animal control, operate an animal shelter for lost, found, and unwanted pets and provide humane education.
