We are a 501c3 formed exclusively for supporting the Ouachita Parish Animal Shetler in West Monroe, LA. Our goal is to raise funds to build a new shelter. We have formed a partnership with the Ouachita Parish Police Jury since we plan to build on their property. We are the Natchitoches Humane Society, founded in 1972, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. We rescue abandoned, neglected and abused animals and provide medical treatment, spaying and neutering, socialization, training and love while they are waiting to be placed in their forever home. Our rescue facility is housed on the grounds of the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, and the dogs housed on-site are cared for by inmates selected specifically for this job. They have play yards, and a large area where they are walked and given basic obedience training by the inmate(s) caring for them. We have a sick room, as well as a bathing area, and two quarantine kennels. We do not house cats at the facility, but do provide rescue for cats through fosters. In an attempt to reduce the number of unwanted pets, we provide assistance to low-income residents through our Spay Natchitoches program. It is our goal to reduce the population of unwanted animals in Natchitoches Parish through adoption, as well as through spaying and neutering. It is our hope that our parish will become the example of what can be done when people work together to achieve the goal of a better life for the animals that live here.

Rockers Rescue

P.O. Box 242
Louisiana

Rockers Rescue. I use to volunteer at our local animal shelter and one day decided.... I could do that. I needed to help the animals in the back at risk of euthanasia. I knew it would be a LOT of work to run a rescue but my plan was to take it step by step and life by life. We began growing. When you start slow and do things right you accomplish more in the end. We go to our local animal shelters that are over flowing. The kill rates are high at Shreveport's shelter. We are trying to help make a change. We take in dogs that would be euthanized for space. We've done ones needing eyes removed, ran over, mange, heartworms (very common in this state), elderly, skinny. You name it. We look for the one that matches our fosters needs and we find the right fit. If we have the donations lined up...we take them immediately to our vet for the works. We do not cut corners...we don't wait. We make sure we have the donations on hand so these babies get ALL the care they need ASAP. We also do cats and kittens. We usually take in the very young or sick mothers. I find what my fosters can handle and we work together. We get the animals recuperated and then place them up for adoption looking for a home to love them as we do. ---- I do this because I love it. I use to have bad anxiety and volunteering at the shelter helped calm me. I found I could function and go places again! This is what God intended me to do. We help the helpless. We turn lives around. It is such a blessing.

PURRS of HOPE Rescue

info@purrsofhope.org
PURRS of HOPE Rescue, Inc, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Hammond, Louisiana. We depend on and are completely funded by donations and operate as an all-volunteer organization. All donations are tax deductible. We are dedicated to rescuing our feline friends. There are hundreds of stray, feral and abandoned cats in our community that need our help and to be their voice. Mission: To rescue and save homeless cats / kittens that have become strays or unwanted by no choice of their own. We also pull cats from high kill shelters. We provide them with vet care, to improve their health and give them the quality of life and love they deserve; while being fostered until adopted out to their Fur-ever homes. We are a no-kill organization. Once a pet comes into our foster care it will remain there until adopted or appropriate long term foster is found. All cats/kittens are spayed / neutered, combo tested for feline leukemia/feline aids virus, given age appropriate vaccinations, wormed, and flea treated. We welcome and encourage volunteers to help with fostering, transporting and care of the cats. We are here to educating the public on the importance to spay and neuter their animals. We partner with other local non-profit organizations to reach our mission to sterilize cats / kittens by assisting the public and transporting their cats/kittens to low cost spay neuter clinics. Our goal is to make a great impact on the over population of cats in our surrounding area. We also participate in TNR of feral cats in our community. TNR humanely manages feral and free roaming cats, while preventing the cats from breeding. They are humanely trapped, spayed/ neutered and vaccinated, then released back to their home or relocated if necessary to reduce their numbers and improve their quality of life.
