Burry Paws Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit rescue designed for the sick, injured, abandoned or orphaned. Our goal is to help cats and kittens in need in Onslow County, North Carolina and the surrounding area. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats and kittens who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. To help control feral cat populations through public education and implementation of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Burry Paws is a volunteer-based organization which relies on foster caregivers to provide loving, stable homes to homeless cats and kittens, helping them become the best possible pets for their future forever families. We do not have a brick-and-mortar facility (yet); our foster pets reside in our volunteers’ homes and become a part of the family until a forever home is found.

Second Chance Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal rescue in North Carolina. Our organization pulls dogs and cats from high kill shelters in rural counties in North Carolina with high rates of medical cases, abuse and neglect. Many of our pets suffer from a multitude of dire medical needs from heartworm treatment to cleft palate reconstructive surgeries. It is our mission to give these deserving pets the life they deserve, no matter how long it takes for them to find it. We are completely foster based, which means that we do not have a shelter facility. All of the dogs and cats who we save are housed in volunteer foster homes with loving families who aide in their rehabilitation. Additionally, everyone who "works" for our rescue is a volunteer, including our Board members and founder. Everything that we do, and all that we provide, is achieved through generous donations by our dedicated supporters.

We cater to senior dogs that have been turned into the shelter or to a veterinarian for for euthanasia but it is not their time yet. We get their medical needs met and if adoptable we adopt them out. If it isn't feasible to have them adopted they stay in our system until it is their time to cross the rainbow bridge.

CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit founded in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier whose investigative articles garnered international awards and prompted changes in animal welfare laws. She created the Organization in response to North Carolina’s euthanasia rate which is among the highest in the country and to many of its shelters’ methods of euthanasia that are so inhumane they are outlawed in most other states. We rescue dogs from kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, and from chains. We provide full medical care, foster homes, and transport by land and air through our partnership with PilotsNPaws to fully screened and qualified adopters all along the East Coast. What distinguishes us from other rescues is our focus on the relationship between the rescued dog and the new family. By understanding your lifestyle and expectations, as well as the personalities of our rescue dogs, we can make a compatible match for a lifelong bond. We are in it for the life of the dog. At any point after adoption, if the adopter's situation changes for whatever reason, we will always accept the dog back into the rescue.
