We are a large feline rescue that services central Virginia. We trap and assists shelters as well as private owners.

Every day, dogs and cats in good health with wonderful personalities are euthanized because of overcrowding. Many of these animals end up at the shelter through no fault of their own. Animals lose their homes when their guardians have died or moved or simply can no longer care for them. If we had our way, no dog or cat would spend its days in a cold, dark shelter. There is so much love and joy in these dogs and cats! Bringing these special animals into a home is not only good for the dogs and cats, these loving animals also transform the quality of life for the people who adopt or foster them. Created in 2012, WAAAG is a Veteran Founded, all volunteer nonprofit animal rescue organization. We help all types of dogs and cats; find safe and loving homes for those animals that are adoptable; and offer end of life care for those that are not. We are an all volunteer organization that started in 2001. We are focused on finding homes for the dogs who are often overlooked in the shelters. All of our dogs live with fosters prior to adopting, so we know how our dogs interact in the home, with pets and with people prior to moving to their new forever home.

For The Cats' Sake was founded in 2014 to fill an urgent need in our community for TNR. Rappahannock County has no animal shelter for cat and no programs in place to deal with the significant numbers of unwanted cats, unplanned litters and community cats being cared for by compassionate, but low income individuals who cannot afford vet care.

We are an animal rescue with focus on rescuing bully breeds. We are dedicated to work with local shelters and low-income families to save, protect, and improve the lives of homeless, neglected pit bull type dogs. We are an all-volunteer organization and 100% funded by donations. In addition, we work with homeless people to provide supplies and services to their animals including medical care, food, spay/neuter, etc. We are driven to educate the public and serve as a resource to our community.

Virginia Donkey Rescue’s mission is to prevent donkey neglect, abuse, abandonment and to keep donkeys from ending up at auctions and kill pens in the State of Virginia. We do this by addressing the issues that cause neglect, abuse, and abandonment in the first place by providing current and future donkey owners and welfare advocates with education, resources and referrals. We offer a safe, economically viable (through donation write-offs) alternative to auctions and kill pens through our rescue program. We manage the organization in the leanest, most self-sufficient, self-supporting manner possible so we are not entirely dependent on donors, grants and outside funding. We are a small group of working professionals, who in our spare time take in rabbits in need from overwhelmed local shelters and foster them in our own homes. When people adopt from Friends of Rabbits, they truly save a life, enabling our foster volunteers to pull another rabbit in need from local animal control facilities. Our rabbits come from the top of the euthanasia list, often within hours of being put to sleep for lack of space, temperament, and physical imperfections. We do not discriminate between the shelter rabbits that we take in. Our organization is made up of volunteers who simply care about saving bunnies and sometimes other critters that need us. It is our mission to end the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable companion rabbits.
