The Halfway House Animal Rescue specializes in saving dogs that are on their last day at the Rowan County Animal Control in Salisbury, NC, as well as abandoned, neglected, abused, and unwanted dogs in Rowan County and the surrounding areas. We realized there was a serious need for rescues willing to work specifically with this Animal Control facility, and this county. The shelter is very small and rural. Some days the shelter sees intakes of 30+ dogs and cats, who get anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks to get adopted before they have to be euthanized for space. Not only do we take in the dogs on their last day, but we also take in starving, abused, injured, and senior dogs from the shelter and local community. We are 100% foster based at this time, although our goal is to eventually have a facility. We believe that all dogs deserve a chance at a warm, safe home, regular meals, basic vet care, and love and affection. Because of this, we take in dogs that need emergency medical care, heartworm positive dogs, seniors in need of hospice care, and hard to adopt out breeds, such as Bully breeds. Please consider adopting, fostering, donating, and sharing our page to help us continue to save dogs in our community. We appreciate your support! MRFRS is a nationally recognized, non-profit volunteer organization committed to ensuring the health and welfare of feral & domestic cats and kittens by promoting, pro-active, compassionate, no-kill programs. MRFRS was founded in 1992 in response to growth in the feral or homeless cat population along the Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA. The first progam of MRFRS was therefore TNR. Since then, the organization has grown to include and adoption center, a sanctuauary for feral & special needs cats, low cost spay neuter, a boarding program for those that need emergency boarding for their cats, a barn adoption program for relocation of feral cats, the Captain Courageous fund which assists injured cats and the Catmobile - a mobile spay/neuter clinic that travels to various locations and performs low cost Spay/neuter.
