Atlanta Humane Society

981 Howell Mill Road NW
Georgia
30318
info@atlantahumane.org(404) 875-5331
Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit (IRS Tax ID# 58-0685900) and one of the oldest private charitable organizations in Atlanta, founded in 1873 as a result of an earlier visit to the city by Robert E. Lee. The animal charity was originally chartered to protect women, children, and animals and remained a child protection and animal welfare society for 79 years. AHS, now a widely recognized pet adoption center, vet center, and educational program provider, was originally located on Marietta Street and moved to its present location at 981 Howell Mill Road in the 1930s. The Alpharetta campus at 1565 Mansell Road was opened in 2011. Atlanta Humane Society serves about 25,000 animals each year, and places approximately 8,000 dogs and cats into forever homes. AHS is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for the animals once they are in our care. We only humanely euthanize those animals suffering from significant medical issues or that pose behavior concerns. We are proud to be a part of the solution to ending pet homelessness and overpopulation in the southeastern United States.

Pets Return Home

PO Box 2769
Arizona
86326
(928) 793-2013
Our Maxim: Saving Lives and Building Families Pets Return Home (PRH) provides life-saving support for dogs. Our four operations support one goal: eliminating unnecessary euthanasia. Annually, 27 million pets are separated from their families unexpectedly. Five million of these animals never return to their owners, resulting in $6 billion in lost pet recovery expenses each year. Our Animal Search and Rescue Team program reduces the lost pet problem and the broken hearts of over 70 million Americans each year. Daily, thousands of dogs, including pregnant dogs, die in animal control facilities due to incorrect behavior assessments or lack of access to behavior modification training. Our Board & Train program provides a lifesaving and family-building alternative to this problem. Many pets are euthanized instead of receiving expensive medical treatment or long-term recovery care. Our Convalescence Care program enables families to afford and provide the care for their loved pets. Thousands of pets die each year because of family inexperience, neglect or abuse. Our Training programs provide the necessary training, which enables the family to provide a safe environment for their dog. Volunteering with us increases awareness, educates everyone within the volunteer’s sphere of influence, provides care for the animals and reduces costs.

Virginia Donkey Rescue

414 Stonewall Road
Virginia
24538
VirginiaDonkeyRescue@gmail.com(844) 433-4299
Virginia Donkey Rescue’s mission is to prevent donkey neglect, abuse, abandonment and to keep donkeys from ending up at auctions and kill pens in the State of Virginia. We do this by addressing the issues that cause neglect, abuse, and abandonment in the first place by providing current and future donkey owners and welfare advocates with education, resources and referrals. We offer a safe, economically viable (through donation write-offs) alternative to auctions and kill pens through our rescue program. We manage the organization in the leanest, most self-sufficient, self-supporting manner possible so we are not entirely dependent on donors, grants and outside funding. Our business plan summary can be read on our Facebook Page.

The Polished Pitbull was founded in 2008 to provide advocacy, education and rescue for pitbull type dogs. Our passion has always been pitbull type dogs. They need help probably more than any other breed, though our DNA analysis (we get DNA results for every dog we take from shelters and adopt out) shows that out of 60 dogs tested, only 2 were full breed dogs...the rest were all mixed breed dogs...pit-mixes.
