2 women over 50 yrs of age who have fostered for Helotes Humane Society and Animal Defense League in San Antonio Tx. We are mostly street rescuers for dumped, abandoned, injured and abused dogs. We take in pregnant strays if they are trusting, if not we take their entire litter out of the environment as soon as possible to prevent harm or health complications. We also pull dogs on the euthanisa list from ACS Animal Control Services in San Antonio and surrounding areas. We do this because all dogs have feelings just as people do and they deserve to live a healthy happy life filled with love.

Humane Society of South Mississippi

Mississippi

adoptions@hssm.org(228) 863-3354
The mission of the Humane Society of South Mississippi is to advocate the bond between animals and humans, provide the highest quality services and compassion to the animals entrusted to our care, reduce companion animal overpopulation, and increase the save-rate of animals in our community. HSSM is a progressive open-admission shelter, which takes in about 12,000 homeless pets each year. In addition to housing the homeless, HSSM provides 10,000 spay/neuter surgeries through our Louise Fenner Claiborne Spay Neuter Clinic, and microchips countless others through our outreach efforts. HSSM's Board of Directors adopted an initiative, entitled Countdown to Zero, to end the euthanasia of healthy and treatable pets in our community by 2015.

Rockwall Animal Adoption Center

1825 Airport Road
Rockwall
Texas
75087
info@RockwallAdoptions.com(972) 771-7750
Legacy Humane Society was established in 2008 as a dog rescue organization run by volunteers and fosters. We take in dogs from EU lists and Owner Surrenders. We have them fully vetted and then we find them homes. We do home check and vet checks on all adopters. The city of Rockwall contracted with LHS in 2012 to take over managing their animals/adoptions. They will maintain animal control and we run their vetting and adoptions. We will screen apps completed at the shelter but we will not be able to due home checks based on staffing constraints. We have 14 employees and funding is done through the city and donations. In Jan 2017 the name of the facility was changed to Rockwall Adoption Center to more clearly divide both sister organizations purpose and services.

There are several rescues in our area, and they cannot keep up with the need for a safe haven for abandoned and stray dogs. Route 66 Rescue is starting a campaign to raise funds for a no-kill shelter that accepts dogs from the public. We will continue rescuing while we travel the long road of establishing a shelter.

Stafford SPCA, Inc.

140 Andrew Chapel Road
Stafford
Virginia
22554
mail@staffordspca.org(540) 657-7387
Organization was started by our Executive Director in 2009 after retiring from the gym business and realizing that Stafford County didn't have a no kill rescue facility. In our first year, we helped 15 animals. In 2010, we helped 108 animals and in 2011, we helped 191 animals. We take animals in on surrender and pull from high-kill shelters, adopting to families that meet our requirements. We make a lifetime committment to our animals and require that, if the adoption doesn't work out, the pets are returned to us.

Colony Cats (& dogs)

2740 Festival Center Lane
Ohio
43017
adopt@colonycats.org(614) 570-0471
We are a 501c3, non-profit, all volunteer animal rescue and welfare organization. We are dedicated to ending the explosion of homeless pets in this area; through low cost (sometimes no cost) spay/neuter, public education/awareness, rescue/adoption and support for feral/stray cats and their caregivers. We do this because there is an epidemic of abused, neglected, abandoned animals throughout Central Ohio. As a compassionate organization we are striving to end this suffering for them. Get them medical care, food and if necessary, a new home.
