Burge Bird Rescue

13833 S US HIGHWAY 71
Missouri
64030
burgebirdrescue@yahoo.com(816) 356-4700
I am a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience who treats birds exclusively, and I started Burge Bird Rescue in conjunction with my avian veterinary practice. Clients visiting our hospital are able to see adoptable birds thru a window in the exam room, as well as via a large window in the lobby. We rescue birds because most other shelters will not accept birds, but they are the third most commonly kept type of pet, and the need for rehoming is great, especially for the large parrots that can easily outlive their owners.

Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League

wamal@wamal.com(425) 610-6257
WAMAL was formed in 1998 by Cindy Neely to help with Malamute Rescue in the greater Northwest area to cover rescue needs outside of the scope of Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue. Since that time we have rescued on average about 100 Malamutes a year and have rescued many hundreds to date. While none of this would have originally happened without a small few, it's the numerous (but sometimes still too few) volunteers that make rescue happen.

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue

P.O. Box 372
Michigan

applications@greatlakesweimrescue.com(877) 728-2934
GLWR is a foster based rescue organization and does not have a traditional physical kennel facility like many humane societies or animal shelters do. Our dogs are typically housed in family homes and cared for by their foster families until we find a forever home for them. Therefore, our process to meet dogs and to adopt may be different than a normal animal control facility, humane society or animal shelter. All-volunteer group Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all-volunteer group and our mission is the rescue and placement of Weimaraners in the Great Lakes Region. We work with a network of shelters in several states, as well as owners needing to relinquish their dog. We are a determined group of people, but we couldn’t do anything without your support. Dogs come first We’ve stopped counting the hours of sleep lost with sick dogs and the miles driven to spring others from shelters. The volunteers of GLWR sacrifice daily to give each dog a chance to enjoy a good life. Your generous assistance with driving, gas cards, phone work, fundraising and dog care makes it possible for us to come to the aid of hundreds of dogs. No-kill philosophy GLWR adheres to a no-kill philosophy, and we will never euthanize a dog to make space for another. The waiting list for Weims in need never ends and we do all we can to take dogs in before they, well, cease to need us anymore. Occasionally a dog dies before we can take it in – haunting our dreams and fueling our determination to never lose another. Happy, healthy dogs From the moment a dog is part of GLWR, it’s medical and emotional needs are assessed and provided for. We believe in doing everything possible to help dogs make the transition into their “forever” home. Medical costs are our largest expense and your donations allow us to address health issues without delay. Why we do it? We are here for the Weimaraners and the Weimaraners alone. Our reward lies not in the accolades of being “rescuers”, but in the gratitude we see in the bright, loving eyes of dogs that once were sad, dejected and without hope. With your help, we’ve given them a chance to experience the warmth of a family that will love and care for them.
