Maureen and I both worked at a Human Society were they Euthanized for space, temperment, health even including ringworm. We did not agree with a lot of the awefull things we saw and decided to start our own no kill rescue (except for pain and suffering)We take in dogs and puppies into our own homes and provide their vet care and altering. We take care of any medical issues even treating for parvo. We have been very successful with treatments. Since this is our home the dogs we take must get along with other dogs, cats and children use to pets. The rescue dog then gets started on training from the moment it comes and gets to join our own family pack of well adjusted dogs. This is a great help in their development. We both have fenced yards. We also do corrective training depending on how bad for food aggression, toy agression and just any issues they may have. We do not take a rescue that we do not think we can help because the animal will stay for life if not adopted. We also take mill dogs and these are a challenge and a long process. We cannot take large quanities at his time because we have several old dogs and a few that have not adopted for life. When they have lifed their life out naturally a space opens up. IF we have a purbreed we do try to get them into a purbreed rescue because their adoption chances are higher and they know how to work with their breed specifics.

KPR does not have a central facility where Pugs can be visited.  Each rescued Pug lives with a foster family until they can be placed in an adoptive home.

We are a non-profit organization that runs strictly on private donations. We help assist with spaying/neutering, micro-chipping, and also assist people in need that can't afford to feed their own animals during this economic crisis. Our goal is to replenish our county with animals that are spayed/neutered and educate the public on why spaying/neutering is so important. We have a trap-neuter-release program that helps fix feral cats in our community as well.

We are a small rescue organization founded by two teachers in 1999, when a stray cat wandered onto one of our doorsteps. Since then, we have obtained our 501(C)3 status and have rescued over 1400 animals from the euthanasia lists of local shelters. We only rescue euthanasia list animals from shelters--we do not take public surrenders. All animals are fostered in homes (not kept in cages). We hold adoption fairs weekly at our local Pet Food Express stores. We also assist with TNR and offer financial support for spaying/neutering and for other rescues (for specical needs rescue animals, specifically. We are focused on saving and altering cats in our area--our local shelter has a 90 percent euthanasia rate for cats and intakes approximately 14,000 per year. So the need is dire. We absolutely love what we do--we adore the people we meet and have become lifelong friends with several of our adopters. Animals are our "connectors" to all that is good in life:)

"F.U.R.R. has rescued & helped hundreds of cats that were in dire need and had no humans to turn to. These include injured cats, sick cats, feral cats, cats whose owners had died without making arrangements for their pets, abandoned cats that were left when their owners moved, homeless mom cats with kittens, homeless kittens whose mom cat had died…the list goes on and on. Basically they are mostly homeless and unwanted cats that would have been euthanized in a shelter, died on the streets from an illness or accident, or continued to reproduce and add to the cat overpopulation problem. "Not only has F.U.R.R. helped the cats, but we've also helped many people in our community, people who have feral or stray cat overpopulation problems and can’t afford to spay or neuter, or get medical help for injured or sick cats they’ve found. "Equally important is many, many F.U.R.R. rescued kitties have been adopted and are now safe and loved!

We are the Waverly Animal Shelter. We are employed by the City Of Waverly. We take in unwanted, lost, and abandoned animals from Humphreys County and try to find them homes. We work with the Humphreys County Humane Society, and the local vetrinarians, to get the medical care the animals need. We NEED numerous volunteers and donations to help make the animals stay at the shelter comfortable, and enjoyable. If you have a little time you could spare and would like to help, please stop by and pet a pup, or cuddle a kitty. Each of us can make a difference for one animal at a time.
