House Rabbit Society

148 Broadway
Richmond
California
94804
rabbit-center@rabbit.org(510) 970-7575
House Rabbit Society is an international, nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Richmond, California. Our mission has two parts: Through our fostering program, volunteers help rescue abandoned rabbits and find permanent adoptive homes for them. Through education, we seek to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits — and to improve bunnies’ lives — by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals. In line with our mission, we are against the exploitation of rabbits. Since HRS was founded in 1988, over 30,000 rabbits have been rescued through our foster homes across the United States. Many of these bunnies had run out of time at animal shelters and were scheduled for euthanasia; others had been deemed “unadoptable” because of age, health, or disposition. Because there is no time limit on our rescued rabbits, HRS foster parents are able to spend time getting to know each individual bunny and can then match him or her with an appropriate home. We neuter/spay all incoming rabbits, obtain any necessary veterinary care, and attend to their social needs. In caring for so many diverse bunnies, our organization has learned a tremendous amount about their social, behavioral, and medical requirements. By sharing the collected information these rabbits have taught us, we are able to help other people improve their relationships with their rabbits. HRS provides educational materials to veterinarians and humane societies and helps individual rabbit people solve behavior and health problems, primarily through our web site, rabbit.org, and our quarterly publication, House Rabbit Journal. Over the past 20 years, HRS has grown from 300 to more than 8,000 members, with local chapters and educators in 37 states plus Canada, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia, Greece, Japan and Singapore. Our web site, rabbit.org, is accessed over 100,000 times a day by people in dozens of countries around the world.

The Heroic Tail

We rescue dogs who are deemed unadoptable due to their behavior. We have partnered with two training facilities to help us. We decided to work with these dogs because these are the dogs that are put down first. Most dogs display fear at shelters and that gets them on the euthanasia list. With trainers who are committed to assist us with training these dogs become adoptable and some can become ESA animals with their training as well. It is easy to adopt out puppies or dogs who are easy but we thought what about the rest who are not helped because of the cost of training and difficulty level.

Feline Rescue in the Ferry

I formed the rescue because of the overwhelming need in our area. We are the largest growing town in NC. We used to be a quaint little fishing town with a military base at our back door. We have been discovered as a beautiful beach community which has brought people here, especially with the pandemic. They realized they could work from home, so why not make home the beach? Unfortunately, because we have such a transient population, cats are adopted/purchased and then left behind when the owners decide to move on. It happens so frequently that all the rescues in the area stay packed. I provide a safe environment, food and

Real Time Rescue Inc

Yucca Valley
California
92284
realtimerescueinc@gmail.com
Real Time Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) volunteer based, animal welfare organization dedicated to assisting people transitioning out of homelessness, as well as those facing economic difficulties that impact their ability to care for their companion animals. We are a small but mighty team of volunteers that are persistently on the streets and in the communities of Los Angeles and The Morongo Basin, building honest and solid relationships with people. We educate them on pet care and provide them with supplies, veterinary and nutritional care for their pets. Reasons for homelessness and poverty vary but we believe that if a person is willing to work towards becoming economically self-sufficient, we will continue to assist them in keeping their beloved animals with them on their journey. On occasion, we will take a dog into our rescue, provided we have a safe foster home for them. We proudly work alongside homeless outreach and housing organizations to help transition individuals and their animals into a more permanent housing solution. We continue to work towards the day when no companion animal is relinquished to a shelter for lack of economic ability. Transparently, we are integrity in action.

We strive to show any animal who comes through our gates: they will never be homeless, or abandoned again. We will find a loving home with a lifelong companion or a loving family; but if they never find that home, they are welcomed into the Grant family. We have several adoptable as well as animals with varied medical or behavioral needs. No animal is euthanized due to medical expense or the inconvenience of care. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs that are in crisis. We work hard to keep animals in loving homes and are available to assist with education, training, advocacy. No dog is turned away. Our goal is to encourage and inspire a community that a animal-human bond is cherished, celebrated, and nurtured.

Fur Babies Rescue is a no-kill animal rescue group located in Hickory, NC, in the Western Piedmont area. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and place between 50 and 100 cats and dogs into permanent homes each year. A donor gave us a wonderful gift of a 5 unit rental property that we are upgrading over the next 18 months and then most of the rental income will cover spay/neuter for our rescues and low income family pets. We are in the process of formally adding dogs to our program now. We have been referring most dogs to a local dog rescue that closed last week and that will increase our work with dogs.
