Our mission is too create a Foster, Adoption & Rescue (FAR) network so that no owner-relinquished or stray animal has to be held in a municipal shelter awaiting adoption or potential euthanasia due to overcrowded conditions. FAR Side Journey is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue organization. We are dedicated saving the lives of shelter animals through rescue, education and supporting other rescue organizations and municipal animal shelters so that all animals have a safe environment while awaiting adoption. Our commitment includes Fospice care for animals that have been diagnosed with life-limiting injuries and non-contagious illnesses, forever fostering for animals with special needs, and support fostering for our partner organizations. Our vision is to see the day that municipal animal shelters no longer have to euthanize any adoptable companion animal.

The Dancing Cat

San Jose
California
95112
We are a rescue organization focused on connecting homeless cats to their forever home. We rescue cats from the local shelter and community. For thos cats that require medical attention or socialization we have foster homes where we place the cats until they are healthy or socialized to the point where they can be adopted. We also take healthy cats directly to our cat lounge where they are available for adoption. We do this because we do not want to see any cat linger in the shelter or on the streets when we can help them find a loving home.

I retired approx 2 years ago from LAPD with 28 years oif service. I fostered for 5 years prior to retirement for another rescue and found it very rewarding to help dogs to have a 2nd chance to live happily ever after. I take the dogs that deserve me to help then have that chance. I deal in quality rather than quantity and invest a lot more time and $$ to take these dogs from abuse and near death to happy healthy family members for another family that will love them until their time comes to go home for good,

Grateful Dogs Rescue

PO Box 411013
San Francisco
California
94141
info@gratefuldogsrescue.org(415) 587-1121
Grateful Dogs Rescue – a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization – was founded in 1990 by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control (SF ACC) volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue SF ACC shelter dogs not made available for adoption and we continue that mission today. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs Rescue saves as many as possible by fostering them until loving homes are found. Our dedicated GDR volunteers also volunteer to work with the animals at SFACC. GDR is the oldest all breed rescue group in the San Francisco bay area. The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home."

Our organization is committed to helping to clear shelters, taking owner surrenders, helping when we can for someone to keep their dog with financial assistance, training, food, medical etc. We do what we do because of "Gunter" . Gunter was a stray when he was taken in he had many aggression issues. Had he been surrendered to a shelter he would have likely been euthanized. We hope one day there will be no need for shelters until then we will rescue from shelters the unadoptables and provide them with the love and training they need until they find permanent homes.
