The Humane Society of Fremont County is an independent, non-profit agency. Our shelter is an open-admission animal shelter that provides animal-services to Fremont County and Custer County, CO, the cities of Canon City and Florence, and the towns of Williamsburg, Rockvale and Coal Creek, CO. We are not a division of the Fremont County government or the city of Cañon City, nor are we operated by or receive a penny in funding from the Humane Society of the United States. We are an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) corporation and we are governed by a board of directors.

Paws & Co. Adoptions is a foster-based, volunteer-run rescue that rescues animals from Colorado shelters, places them in loving foster homes and works to find a quality adoptive home for each animal. The rescue strives to save lives by creating a seamless, well-supported rescue and outreach process. This includes providing exceptional support to families fostering animals through the rescue, collaborating with other rescues and shelters for the benefit of animals, and educating and working with the public in a respectful and efficient manner to place and retain animals in their homes.

Denver Dachshunds Rescue and Transport is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are working to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes nationwide. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

We are a nonprofit dog rescue in the Denver area entirely volunteer run. We pull dogs from high volume facilities from Colorado and the surrounding states. We are not breed specific and will take dogs into our program depending on the availability of our foster homes. All our dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. We are focused on finding great matches for the dogs we take in, as well as the people we serve.

Rottie Aid is a rescue that focuses on pulling dogs from local Colorado shelters and rehome them. We do take in owner relinquishes when we can as well. Most of the dogs we get are dogs with some issue or another so need experienced Rottweiler owners to apply. Our goal is to be a resource for the local shelters and Rottweiler owners to come to when needed. We are a VERY small rescue so we are limited on what we can do. Always looking for experienced Rottweiler owners to become a foster home for us.

Summit Dog Rescue is an all breed rescue dedicated to a mindful, hands-on, thorough approach to rescuing great dogs and adopting them into exceptional furever homes. Most of the dog's we rescue are mid-sized, active dogs often with fluffier coats, although don't be surprised to see a chihuahua mix, corgi or other small pup on our website from time to time. We are dog lovers first and foremost! Our adoption process includes an application, a phone conversation, reference checks and a home visit before a placement. We emphasize getting to know our dogs and our potential adopters so that we can help make the right 'fit' for your home and family. Our application is on our "Contact Us" page. Our adoption process is more involved than most other rescues, so if you're in a hurry please do check one of the other great rescues! Or better yet go to a shelter - those dogs need homes more than any. Summit Dog Rescue was founded as "Mountain Dog Rescue" in 2009, but we changed our name in 2013 to our current name as we incorporated saving Colorado dogs and working to have Colorado become a "No Kill" state. into our mission, Our goal is to save more dogs from Colorado's kill shelters. 18,000 dogs a year and 13,000 cats are killed in our great, animal loving state each year. Summit Dog Rescue is a part of "No Kill Colorado" coalition and seek to educate Coloradans about 'no kill' and help bring affordable spay and neuter to areas of Colorado that don't have that option currently. We want all dogs to reach their "peak"! Our adoption fee is $300. All our dogs are fully vetted - spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Our dogs that come from Arkansas or Tx (high hw areas) come with the remainder of their six months of heartworm preventative pills.

RezDawg Rescue is a 501c3 organization that is aggressively addressing the situation of homeless, abandoned and neglected companion animals in the Four Corners region of the United States. RezDawg Rescue seeks to remedy this situation by providing emergency medical care, humane education programs, free and low-cost spay/neuter clinics and safe and efficient transport of unwanted animals to regions where permanent homes can be located.

I am a veterinarian's wife, have been doing rescue for 23 yrs, and we take dogs of all kinds, not just Dalmatians, if we have room. Our dogs are fostered.

OutPaws is an all-breed rescue dedicated to saving the animals that are left behind. We pull from local kill shelters and also take animals from shelters in other states who are out of time. All animals are kept in foster homes so they may be socialized and best-transitioned into their adoptive homes.
