Everglades Angels Dog Rescue

Everglades Angels Dog Rescue is a NonProfit 100% Volunteer organization to end the suffering of thousands of abandoned pet dogs, feral and breeding packs of dogs, by physical rescue & rehoming. Our mission is to end the suffering of thousands of abandoned pet, feral and breeding packs of dogs, by physical rescue, from rural and remote areas of Florida. Our goal is to treat the rescued dogs medically, including sterilization and microchip identification. Also, to provide psychological training and placement in qualified homes. The rescue dogs homing procedure encompass's verification by home check of adopter, vet treatment verification of current pets, and in person interview, as well as meeting between future adopter and the rescue dog. Also, to verify current pets in the home will be compatible, prior to finalization of adoption. Adoption of a healthy well adjusted dog is vital to our mission in preventing future abandonment. The current battle to decrease the ever growing abandonment of pets and proliferation of breeding packs is an immense project. These dogs numbers are multiplying by thousands weekly. We are dedicated to creating innovative projects and attending events to fund our mission. Educating the public by circulating written information, visiting community centers and speaking with locals in remote areas of Florida. To bring awareness of the tragedy of abandonment, for the day of dumping, onset of starvation and dehydration, infestation by parasites, torture of biting mosquitoes, ticks and snakes and death by ingestion, by other wildlife or reptiles. Our organization is unique because our dedication is to the truly in need, with no shelter, food and basic chance of survival. We seek out the tortured, sick and debilitated dogs, in the most remote areas of Florida, to end suffering and proliferation of dogs, not indigenous to these areas.

Gadsden Co. is the second poorest county in the state of FL. Demographics indicate low education and economic levels leading to high incidence of animal abuse, neglect, abandonment, dog fighting, etc. Prior to our organization becoming active about 1500 dogs/cats were euthanized each year. Since inception in 2011, we have been able to curtail the number of animals euthanized in 1/2. Last year, 750 animals were put to sleep. The community has responded well to our approach of offering LOW COST s/n vouchers which is now a self-promoting process.

We have been an organization for over 20 years and became a 501 c organization soon after. Our main goal is spay/neuter as many cats that we can possibly do. In order to reduce the overpopulation, we feel that fixing an animal is the most important thing to do. In many situations we find kittens or friendly cats that have been dumped in our feeding areas. We take those animals to the vet to make sure they are in good health. If they are, we either put them in a Petco or foster home until we can find the right home. Our group traps to fix cats, feed colonies of cats that we have fixed and adopt what we can. we have done fixed over 6,000 cats. Our adoptions are not as high as our spay/neuter numbers. It is hard for us since we have no shelter and very little exposure.

MarrVelous Pet Rescues & Adoptions (MPR) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation officially formed in 2007 out of the love of animals shared by its founding members. Our mission is to unite homeless pets with loving homes and families. The organization is comprised of a "virtual shelter" based out of Marr Properties in Key Largo, Florida. This virtual shelter is a local network of foster families who are dedicated to take in, care for and if needed, rehabilitate or socialize animals in need until they are ready to be placed in permanent loving forever homes. Funding for these services comes solely from donations, which are fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Animals we adopt out often come to us having been abandoned or relinquished. Some may have injuries, health issues or other medical needs requiring veterinary care, antibiotics or other medications. If no medical history is available, a wellness exam is done, vaccines administered and preventive medications are started. Occasionally there will be behavioral or emotional issues that need to be addressed - perhaps the pet has been neglected or abused and needs to re-learn to trust. And sometimes the animals who come to our care are perfectly happy, healthy, fully trained and respectable little souls who, through no fault of their own, are suddently in need of a new home. The stories are plentiful and the needs are vast. Our foster families, with the assistance of loca veterinarians, take great care in making sure these needs are met. Funding for these services and needs come soley from donations. If you are interested in becoming a foster family for MPR, go to our website and complete an application. Someone will contact you to discuss what it takes to be a foster host family. Learn the rewards that come from lending a hand.
