Small Angels Rescue, Inc., is a Frederick County, MD based 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, and rats. Small Angels was established in the fall of 2003 and since then has successfully rescued over 4,500 small animals. While we do not have a physical shelter, we use a network of foster homes instead to care for the animals until they find a forever home. We believe that these small animals deserve an exemplary quality of life, through proper habitat, nutrition, enrichment, companionship, and veterinary care. We strive to educate the public on the characteristics of these small animals and provide comprehensive care sheets to help spread the word!

OUR MISSION We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned or unwanted animals in danger of death, abuse or neglect. We place animals in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes thorough applications/questionnaires/conversations, taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing an animal into their homes and lives. Animals in our care are spayed/neutered if applicable, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in caring foster homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our rescue remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animal beyond the adoption process. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations across the country to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

The mission of Town Cats is to enrich the lives of free-roaming, feral, or abandoned cats in the Ocean City, Md and surrounding communities by limiting the population growth and providing medical care through Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR), and affordable adoption services. Town Cats was organized in 1998 in order to address the feral cat population of Ocean City, Maryland. When they went home in the fall, many summer visitors would leave behind the cats they had been feeding all summer to face the winter without food or shelter. Those that survived would inevitably breed in the spring, producing litters of feral kittens that would eventually produce more unwanted kittens. Something had to be done to stop the litters and so Town Cats was born to spay/neuter/vaccinate the feral cats of Ocean City.
