The Dog House Rescue is the pet project of two dog lovers that wandered into a municipal animal shelter to pick up one new family member and left with seven. Like much of the public, we had mistakenly believed that most shelters are able to provide a no-kill haven for homeless animals. Due to overcrowding, the euthanasia rate at one facility alone is 80%. With the average dog having less than one week to find an adopter, it is easy to find great dogs who were simply born in an unfortunate geographic area. We exist to help bridge the gap between loving homes seeking good citizen companions and good natured dogs looking for an opportunity to show their stuff. Those that have found themselves in a shelter through no fault of their own and would otherwise be euthanized for space are given medical treatment, spayed/neutered, and obedience trained so that they may continue to be good citizens in their forever families. Our adoption process begins with an application painting a picture of the adopter’s preferences and capabilities and moves forward with meet and greets. Adopters get to know their future family member and we enjoy learning about each individual’s hopes and dreams for their new friend. With a match made and personal chemistry being mutual, the adoption contract is finalized and hand offs are celebrated with a free training session. This complimentary hour with a professional trainer, already well known to each dog, helps owners to speak their loved one’s language and provides an additional point of contact for any questions that may arise in the future. All residents at The Dog House are considered family for life. We understand that personal tragedies happen. If a Dog House member is ever unable to continue in their adopted home, they are welcomed back with open arms. Having already survived the shelter once, our promise to them is to never be homeless again.

PALNV partners with TNR trappers and cat colony feeders to take in adoptable cats facing homelessness on the streets. The cats become our residents when they arrive at our free-roaming cat café and stay until adopted. The café provides a relaxing atmosphere where people and cats mingle and perfect matches are made.

I (Toree) went to Cancun on a trip for fun. Got the idea (a calling) to help the dogs there. So I went back, found Karin who had been rescuing street dogs for years (her full-time job). We started a 501c3, are working to create a network of helpers. Right now, Karin and I fund everything but we are working on fundraising so that we can do more.

The primary goal of PAWsitive Difference is to rescue, foster, and adopt out dogs from families that are unable to continue to care for them. We also rescue many dogs that have been abandoned or are listed on the kill list of our local animal foundation and help provide these dogs homes with new, loving families. PAWsitive Difference is located in Las Vegas, NV. Additionally, we help support Veterans and senior citizens in keeping their dogs by providing assistance with the costs of feeding, grooming, medication/shots and vet care. Many of the services we provide are very expensive and our dogs are supported entirely through monetary donations made by people like you. Our Founders Annette Thomas (founder) is a hair stylist and an animal lover. She has worked tirelessly on her own for more than 22 years re-homing and rehabilitating over 200 dogs. She has helped rescue, save, foster, adopt, rehab, match and/or provide hospice for these dogs from her strong passion and love for dogs and animals. Margaret Deibert (co-founder) is an accountant and she recommended that Annette become a 501(c)(3) and she did the required paperwork and in July of 2015, PAWsitive Difference Pet Rescue was born.
