Our name says it all, PIPs’ primary focus are medical and special needs dogs that are often overlooked. We call these dogs “PIP-abled” which means perfectly imperfect. A dog that may need a wheelchair, is missing limbs, deaf, blind or in need of some extra love and care – this is our niche. While we love our PIP-abled dogs; puppies, healthy adult dogs, and seniors have our hearts as well. We are inclusive of all dogs in need.

Our core programs: COMMUNITY CATS We work with local caregivers to stabilize populations and improve the health and well-being of community cat colonies by providing resources and facilitating targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts. “OUTDOOR” DOGS Our goal is to provide community members with “outdoor” dogs access to affordable spay/neuter assistance and improved outdoor environments through fence repairs, shelters, and other infrastructure improvements. RAPID RESPONSE RESCUE We provide on-the-ground assistance in the southeast region to areas affected by natural disasters through recovery efforts and rescue assistance.

We are Tails of the Unwanted. We started this rescue group to provide dogs and cats a chance at a new start in life. Our animals go into foster homes to become acclimated in home life after leaving the chaos of the shelter environment. We love our animals like they are our own and give them the highest care possible.

"Compassion, Dignity, and Service." Our intent is to establish a dog rescue that will directly impact the common issues faced by local community animal shelter services: reducing financial stress on shelters, alleviating capacity issues, and preventing euthanasia as much as humanly possible. We will always rescue an animal from an abusive or neglectful situation while following state and county laws, and we will assist with re-homing dogs through an owner surrender program that will further prevent dogs from being taken to area shelters. Striving to educate people on animal cruelty prevention and the importance of spaying and neutering animals will always be a supplementary action. During this journey, we will always strive to put more compassion into the world whenever and wherever possible.

The Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping animals in our community since 1970, and has managed the Durham County Animal Shelter since 1990. APS relies on donations from caring individuals and corporations to feed, shelter and provide medical attention for the nearly 5,000 stray, surrendered, abandoned, abused and neglected animals we care for each year. St. Furever Freedom Animal Rescue is a North Carolina based animal rescue that at it's heart wants to bring shelter animals home to their Furever Families!

We love dogs and want to help underdogs find their forever homes.

We are a foster based rescue group with no single shelter or space warehousing dogs. We are managed by a Board of Directors with representatives from all three of our regions, Dallas Ft. Worth, Midwest and Southeast Chihuahua Rescue & Transport (CRT) is a foster-based rescue group that places Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes. Our purpose is to extend public education and awareness regarding overpopulation, abuse, neglect, importance of spaying/neutering, and the tragic, high rates of Chihuahua abandonment and shelter euthanasia. We have placed thousands of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes in approved homes since 1996. CRT requires an application, vet check, reference check and home visit for each adopter.

Killer Kitties Rescue we pull from Stanly County NC Shelter adoptable cats because they have high euthanasia rate.

To provide Rutherford County with Animal Control services including: Stray animal pick-up Bite case investigation Cruelty investigation Animal nuisance complaints Animal reclaims and adoptions Rabies Vaccines and Rabies Control To provide assistance and information to others whose purposes are consistent with the purpose of Rutherford County Animal Control Services To inform the public on the importance of spaying and neutering in order to reduce the numbers of unwanted animals Form networks with local and regional rescue groups to increase adoption rates To overall improve the quality of life for the animals of Rutherford County through information and by reducing the dog and cat overpopulation
