At AGAPE, we have seen it all when it comes to man’s friend. But despite the misfortunes these animals have endured, our commitment to them remains steadfastly clear: to provide loving, emotionally stable, nurturing foster care for them while they wait for their forever homes, for their forever families. Through no fault of their own, our dogs found themselves in homeless situations. We are dedicated to making a positive difference in these dogs’ lives from the moment they enter our foster program. Our goal is to help these animals in every way we can...emotionally, socially, physically…so that the transition onto their forever homes will be as smooth as possible. We strive to teach our dogs basic obedience skills, including proper leash manners and friendly house manners. We are also focused on educating the public to be more responsible pet owners.

Who We Are: We are experienced, animal-loving residents of Cumberland and surrounding counties, organized as a not-for-profit membership corporation. Our Mission: To reduce the rate of animal euthanasia through the promotion of animal adoptions, the rescue of healthy animals, the provision of temporary foster homes and the promotion of Spay and Neuter programs. What we do: We rescue companion animals from situations where their lives are threatened. We place these animals in a “foster care” environment in one of our member’s homes. We treat the animals as necessary (including Spay or Neuter), socialize them and otherwise prepare them for adoption into a “forever” home. We then adopt them into a loving environment. We have no kennels or other facilities so all our funding goes directly to the care of our animals. Why we do it: To reduce the very high euthansia rates in the counties that we target.

We are East TN Pit Bull Rescue and we search for loving and responsible forever homes for needy pits in the East TN Area. We will consider aid to a dog out of that area if there is not one to fill the spot from our area. We educate on the truth about the breed and responsible ownership of the breed. We help fight Breed Specific Legislation and educate communities on ways to strengthen their dog laws with BSL language. We hold adoption events as well as educational events aimed at redeeming the reputation of this breed. We do these things because we realize that the future of this breed depends on the public and the media seeing the real Pit Bull.
