Our Mission Developing highly adoptable dogs through our positive reinforcement rehabilitation training program. This program is designed to save, rehabilitate, train, and rehome dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected, placed on death row, or misunderstood. We give dogs a second chance to have a happy life! Our Founder & President " I was born to be a voice for the voiceless! This is deep rooted in my soul. From an incredibly young age, I have been their voice and continue to be heard" Our founder and president, Judy Troyer, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She not only trains obedience but also focuses her advanced training on understanding aggression & rehabilitation protocols. She uses positive reinforcement techniques, for our rescues training and rehabilitation. With her knowledge and training style, many dogs have been given a second chance to live a healthy happy life. Judy is a big advocate for clear communication, pain free and force free training techniques and is the voice for so many misunderstood dogs! Our Team We are animal loving volunteers who spend our lives dedicated to our rescues. We work very hard to help with the rescue's training and help them become highly adoptable & happy dogs! We believe every dog deserves a second chance to be understood and to learn how to live appropriately in the human world. We are consistent with our training techniques and have seen amazing transformations in dog behaviors. We go above and beyond for those that can't speak for the themselves. Joining our team, you will learn many amazing training techniques, understand dog body language and be making a huge difference in the life of a rescue!

We are an all volunteer non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization who's main goal is to eliminate unwanted cats and kittens throughout Horry County through promotion of TNR program. We are all cat lovers, many with over 20 years experience in rescue. We feel that euthanization is not the way to control cat population. We do not abort a pregnant cat - instead we foster until she's had her babies, adopti out the kittens and spay mother, ultimately returning her to the location she came from if it's a safe area. Otherwise, she will be relocated to one of our own colonies where we feed and water the cats daily.

It is the Mission of the Humane Society of Charles County (HSCC) to provide shelter and care for homeless, injured and neglected animals through adoption, fostering, community partnerships, education, and affordable spay-neuter and vaccine services. n 1975, a small group of community volunteers realized that the existing county animal shelter was not able to save those animals most in need and so conceived of an organization committed to the protection of injured, neglected, and abused animals that might otherwise perish without intervention. These selfless volunteers became The Humane Society of Charles County and set up shop in a garage. Incorporated as a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization in August 1979, the Humane Society of Charles County was created based on a deep respect for all life, animal, and human. From the beginning, we have held a deep commitment to care for animals and serve the community by offering love, support, and safety to the animals and respect for all. Each year, we provide compassionate shelter and care to more than 2,300 homeless animals; inspire more than 10,000 school children, nursing home residents, veterans, and community members through our humane education, Paws to Read, and pet therapy programs; provide low-to-no cost veterinary services for more than 3,000 pets in need; find homes for more than 1,600 animals; and save nearly 200 “bottle babies” from certain death through our kitten and puppy fostering programs. In 2016, we launched our Forever Friends Community Outreach program and since then have provided over 3000 community cats and their caregivers with free spay/neuter and pet food pantry services. As an open admission shelter, the HSCC continues to pride itself on our commitment to accepting all animals brought to us regardless of their health or temperament, and we hold tight to our vision of creating a community where animals are cherished and no longer need us for protection and shelter.

We are a nonprofit supported by a 100% volunteer staff. We rescue, rehabilitate (when needed) and rehome all dog breeds and dog breed mixes. We don't limit our support to a specific breed. We provide care for dogs who are terminally ill who may otherwise but euthanized so they may be loved and live out their life in a loving fospice home. We support our local community through advocating and providing education on spay/neuter, vaccine and heartworm prevention education and safe dog handling. We provide financial support to those who have dogs with medical issues but can't afford medical care allowing guardians to keep their dogs whom otherwise may have been euthanized or turned into a local shelter.

We are a foster based organization, we help a lot with medical and with families that have lost a loved one and the pet in the home has no where to go. Instead of the pet sitting in a cage in the shelter we find a place for them to feel comfortable during the trying time. We also help families that have to have temporary foster due to domestic violence.
