Natchitoches Humane Society

We are the Natchitoches Humane Society, founded in 1972, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. We rescue abandoned, neglected and abused animals and provide medical treatment, spaying and neutering, socialization, training and love while they are waiting to be placed in their forever home. Our rescue facility is housed on the grounds of the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, and the dogs housed on-site are cared for by inmates selected specifically for this job. They have play yards, and a large area where they are walked and given basic obedience training by the inmate(s) caring for them. We have a sick room, as well as a bathing area, and two quarantine kennels. We do not house cats at the facility, but do provide rescue for cats through fosters. In an attempt to reduce the number of unwanted pets, we provide assistance to low-income residents through our Spay Natchitoches program. It is our goal to reduce the population of unwanted animals in Natchitoches Parish through adoption, as well as through spaying and neutering. It is our hope that our parish will become the example of what can be done when people work together to achieve the goal of a better life for the animals that live here.

OUR MISSION We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned or unwanted animals in danger of death, abuse or neglect. We place animals in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes thorough applications/questionnaires/conversations, taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing an animal into their homes and lives. Animals in our care are spayed/neutered if applicable, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in caring foster homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our rescue remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animal beyond the adoption process. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations across the country to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Humane Society of Dover-Stewart County

533 Honey Fork Rd
Tennessee

sueb.properties@yahoo.com(931) 232-8165
We live in a very rural county in the south. This county has no Animal Shelter and no Animal Control. For 8+ years we have worked hard to encourage the County Mayor & Commissions to get an Animal Shelter in place. Since there is no state mandate to do such a thing, the county officials will not take responsibility for the stray & unwanted animals, citing monetary reasons. Our county does grant us $4,000 a year, but this amount is only 7% of our annual financial need. So every single unclaimed stray, abandoned (and there are many), and/or injured animals relies on our very small group for life-saving assistance. We are often over-whelmed in attempting to take in as many of these neglected animals as possible. Generally, we take in approximately 250+/- unwanted or injured or sickly animals each year. Although we have 45 volunteers/members on our rolls, only a handful (3 or 4) can foster these animals in their homes. Most of us also have full time jobs. Although vet expenses for all these animals are covered through donations & grants, the foster parents cover the food & treat expenses. Also, each foster transports their adoptable pets to our nearest local city (Clarksville, TN) every single Sunday (without fail) to Petsmart Adoption Events from 11 to 4. This transport is a 60+ mile round-trip for each foster parent. The cost of transporting the animals is also paid for by the foster parents.

Tri State K9 Lifeline Inc

Kentucky
41101
tristatek9lifeline@gmail.com
We are a small group of dedicated volunteers based in Ashland, KY. We are located in what is referred to as the "Tri-State" area, as it is where WV, KY and OH meet. Given our location, we have access to assist needy dogs in all three states (within a certain mile radius). However, our primary focus is assisting dogs from our local shelter, The Boyd County Animal Control Shelter in Ashland, KY. Tri-State K9 Lifeline will assist rescues and shelters by pulling, fostering, networking, transporting and LOVING shelter dogs in need. We are a non-profit rescue group formed to help the neediest dogs and puppies in our area — the strays, the orphaned, the abandoned. Our Mission Is… To rescue and provide sanctuary for stray and abandoned dogs and puppies and do our best to secure for each of them permanent, loving, responsible homes. To promote respect and compassion for all creatures through humane education. To reduce pet overpopulation by increasing public awareness of the need to spay and neuter companion animals. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations made to Tri State K9 Lifeline are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. All proceeds from donations go strictly toward the care of our dogs. We are a volunteer-run group and rely solely upon donations and fund raising as we receive no government funding. We’re here to help you form a lifelong relationship with a friend and provide a life that, for some dogs, has never been known.
